I recently emailed the poc for KFG569 lic , and it was confirmed to me that the SO went to P25 digital encryption in Oct 2024, the vol fire will follow in the next few weeks.
APD, AFR, LCSO are now online and encrypted. VFD & ALH EMS will be online by the end of summer.I recently emailed the poc for KFG569 lic , and it was confirmed to me that the SO went to P25 digital encryption in Oct 2024, the vol fire will follow in the next few weeks.

yeswill vfd and alhs ems be encrypted?
yup . for the life of me i still don't understand why a fire department would want to encrypt. I have always said radio salesmen are always trying to make a buck . Using the line homeland security / fcc mandates the use of encryption . But the world keeps spinning and eggs are getting higher .Another dinosaur goes extinct! My grandfather used to have a console radio that came with police frquencies. We would listen for hours. I no longer need to own a scanner , it was another source of emergency info. An end of an "ERA".
I saw another post that said they're going to start holding agencies accountable later this year for those very reasons. Since it seems that nothing on this new system is going to be in the clear, I'm afraid this is going to be the new trend going forward. Agencies that are currently in the clear will have to flip the big E switch themselves, and then it's game over. Enjoy listening to McDonald's drive thru chatter. With Fire agencies running more medical than fires these days, PII/PHI is a real concern.
is that still possible at one time u could do that. but i think they went high tech and u cant anymore lolI saw another post that said they're going to start holding agencies accountable later this year for those very reasons. You might be right, wouldn't surprise me really. I haven't been to McDonald's in a long time but I assumed some locations were still using old-school analog but I could be wrong.is that still possible at one time u could do that. but i think they went high tech and u cant anymore lol
