I had to send my scanner ( BCD396XT ) in for repair to Uniden .I checked the status on line and it says its waiting to be shipped back. But it dosent give a description of what was done to it . But it says parts used "Q2" & "Q3" anyone know what that refers to.. My complant with the unit was its reception had decreased quite a bit . It wasnt "hearing" Frequencys like it used to or as good as the other units i have. Signal strength was not like it used to be, like the day it came out the box.. Anywho anyone have any insight on the above part numbers mentioned? maybe these are not part numbers but a location on the circuit board??

If there telling you they have no idea id be asking to speak with someone else or even a supervisor, they have to know where its at and whats going on with it!

Thanks

Those are the 2 FET's on the input stage after the antenna. Possibly got zapped from static. Or you may have stuck the whip antenna into an AC wall socket (just kidding).
Most likely just Q2 was bad, but it doesn't hurt to change Q3 also.

Thanks pro106import I knew someone here would know, That makes sense why the unit wasnt receiving properly. Not sure how it went bad but, hey S*^@ happens.
