I thought I'd dig out this scanner and program it with Pro Scan it's been so long, I can't remember if it programs with USB to Serial cable or, USB to mini USB on a front port? I I can't use a serial cable any more. Thanks! :)

For programming you can use either. Firmware updates must be done via the front port, which is not mini USB but a small serial connection.

You'll need a USB-1 cable to connect to the front port. The link is to the geniune Uniden cable; you may find a compatible cable that is cheaper.

USB to serial for rear, and if I'm not mistaken it has to be a null-modem connection.

Here's one option:

If I remember correctly you can match the Baud Rate on the rear serial port and PROGRAM the scanner just not FIRMWARE UPDATES.

Exactly correct. Default is 4800 for GPS but it will do up to 115200. Remember: If you use it for GPS set it back to 4800 when you are done.
