Anybody have any word if they are going digital at all?

No they are not, might want to check some of the previous forum messages regarding this.

NOT in Alaska, damnit!
In a nutshell...

Not to belabor this, but the Sheriff sees no reason to spend literally tens of millions of dollars to replace a radio system in Boulder County that works very well now.

I agree with him, but there is one thing that makes me nervous: The City of Boulder is overdue for a 100-year flood event. All it takes is a good sized thunderstorm to park itself just east of Nederland in the canyon. Another Big Thompson Canyon just waiting to happen. How would Boulder be helped in this senario by being on the DTRS? I don't know. I'm sure it's been discussed, though....

That is true, very true. Another thing, how would they expect 800 MHz signals to get through in the mountains? Not an ideal system especially if they had a disaster, SAR, or anything.

If they went to DTRS, who's radio system would CSP use when they were in Boulder County? I hear them using Boulder's dispatchers to call CSP dispatch almost daily because the DTRS system does not work in the mountains.

Remembering that the DTRS has not been built out yet in Boulder County and actually has no sites in the western parts of the county.

You don't see most other mountain counties such as Larimer, Grand, Gilpin, Clear Creek, Summit, Park, Teller, Routt, Chaffee, Gunninson etc jumping to DTRS from there proven VHF-Hi systems either.

Catch up, kid. :) That's been the topic of debate ever since DTRS was first proposed!
