I’m in East Haven, (Foxon side),

Our next my town over, Branford Police & Fire, have always been a solid 4 bars excellent p25 reception in the clear on this side of town.
Just within the past 3-4 months it’s dropped down to 0-1 bars, which doesn’t work out at all.
This is on all three of my receivers which are all different.
Does anyone know of any changes going on with their system? TIA

many places are turning the antennas downward to help keep the signal closer and be ably to reuse frequencies.
i have no idea if this has happened there, but is a possibility.

I'll confirm the poorer signal strength. I'm in North Haven. I was receiving them here before but when I just checked, I could only RX on the second floor of my house with an APX. My SDS100 has been silent.

I guess that confirms something has changed. I know Northford has upgraded their system around the same time to CLMRN.
A new cell tower was also added. That, and two others fairly close to me may have been optimized to accommodate them and cause some interference?

I’m thinking maybe a Yagi pointed in the direction of branford may fix it for me. It just means a handheld in my home just won’t work anymore. 👍🏼

I used to be able to receive them just using the stock antenna on the handheld. I'm on the Wallingford/Northford line, not anymore and even with the outdoor antenna. The only thing I can think of is their antenna that's located on hilltop rd near the North Branford line is not working.

It’s unfortunate. East haven and Branford share police & FD resources. I can pick Branford outside with a handheld, East Haven no problem. If I’m in my home, now Branford is unintelligible. Normally it’s full bars and crystal clear audio. I’m trying to determine if a directional UHF Yagi or just a standard base scanner antenna would work it out for me. If it’s some kind of interference, then it still may be an issue.
I’ll have to play around with it a bit and see what I come up with. 👍🏼
