Does anyone have any info on the central York fire trucks, numbers 281, 284, etc? I've heard them responding to a few things, but I don't know what area they cover. I heard an MVC at Woodbine and Green Lane - wouldn't that just be the normal Aurora/Newmarket fire trucks that would respond to the area?

I've also heard control refer to units as "2806", not a specific truck.

Any thoughts?

Both postings above are somewhat correct.

2 is the Fire Department (in this case, East Gwillimbury)
8 is the Station (Queensville Fire Station)
1 is the Pumper (and "standard" york region truck types apply here)

The 2806 is an officer with a portable.

The last number believe is the truck type a 0 a support truck ,1,2,3 a Pumper a 4 a tanker and 6 a Ladder,8 a Hazmat truck and 9 a rescue .

It should look like this

711- 7 Vaughan - station 1 and 1 a Pumper
716-7 Vaughan - station 1 and 6 a Ladder
726-7 Vaughan - station 2 and 6 a Ladder
729 -7 Vaughan - station 2 and 9 a Rescue truck
731-7 Vaughan - station 3 and 1 a Pumper
732-7 Vaughan - station 3 and 2 a Pumper
733-7 Vaughan - station 3 and 3 a Pumper
734- 7 Vaughan - station 3 and 4 a tanker
738-7 Vaughan - station 3 and 8 a Hazmat truck

The first number is the city or town and third the station number and the last the truck type .I still do not know what a 7 or 5 is like 715 or 717.

But many times the firefighters in Vaughan will just say things like 726 off the air at 72.
