Just needing confirmation on the usage of two frequencies.
1) This frequency seems to be county road and bridge crews

155.80500 WQEW632 RM127.3 PLLub Co ECLubbock EC, County EC FMN Emergency Ops

2) Could this frequency be used for the recently installed remote tornado sirens?

Hello,

What leads you to believe 154.1300 might be the activation channel? are you hearing data bursts? Do they have a pattern of occurrence? Do they test the sirens weekly or monthly that you can correlate with activity on that channel? have you looked at any of the sirens and noted the type of antenna they are using?

The freq is recently licensed. The sirens where tested last week for the first time. I have not heard any thiing on the freq and 99 % of city and county traffic is on the trunking system.I try to find out when the next test is and monitor that freq. The news was telling there was redundant ways to activate the systems, but did not go into specifics. They also have antenns . I will try to get a picture

IF you have a scanner that records that you can dedicate to that freq for about a week, it might prove useful, in determining if they are polling the sirens every so often to make sure they are operating correctly. As an example Guadalupe county polls their flood warning sirens every 4 hours, and what I think is Comal County's Warning system, seems to happen every 12 hours. Looking for a pattern will go a long way into helping you determine what their use for that channel is. I noticed also that it is licensed for 100 mobiles and the FB is 275 watts.

I also found this on the City's website:

City Of Lubbock Outdoor Warning System

TESTING

Silent testing three times per day
  • Automated
  • Status reports automatically generated and emailed
“Growl” testing once per week
  • Two (2) second activation of the siren
  • Can be manual or automatic as needed
  • Status request of each siren after activation
Full activation testing once per month
  • Full duty cycle of three (3) minutes
  • Operated on battery only
  • Status request of each siren after activation
  • Scheduled day is the Second Friday from 9 AM to 10 AM

Here are two pictures. I have no experience determining if the antenna is VHF or not

Those look quite similar to the ones that Guadalupe County uses and that system is on VHF. If they are following the testing schedule they have laid out on their web page, there should be a poll/test every 8 hours. I would start with monitoring that frequency and see if there is any regular activity. Back in November I made some recordings of what I think is Comal's OWS. I created a post here with a link to the recordings.
Maybe it can help you identify your area OWS.

Good Luck

Today I confirmed that 154.13 is used to activate the Tornado Warning Sirens. I had 3 scanners set up and when the sirens went off the scanners were receiving data burst continuosly.
