I was in Disneyland this past week and everyone I saw, security, staff, even the fire department used only Nextel units. My question is; do these operate like a normal radio system where each department has their own talkgroup? Or do they operate nextel to nextel ONLY? Thanks! :) Also, everyone I saw had an earpiece so I wasn't able to even hear any traffic while walking by. :(

Might want to review these topics.

Nextel's iDEN technology is just another trunking technology. There's group calling, private calling ("DirectConnect"), telephone interconnect, paging, etc.

In this case Disneyland has talkgroups setup for them. I'm sure they make use of all features considering how they ran their 900 system.

It's part of the Nextel system, not Nextel-like.
