10 dropped the Storm Team Fury 10.2 channel when they went digital. I have antennas in the attic for 38, 2 and 10 pointed south, and the digital signal won't punch through rainstorms or fog like the analog used to, it just pixellates out. On my Dish network signal strength indicator 10 comes in very close to 100 percent whereas 2 and 38 will barely make 75 percent on a good day. I live in center TH about 15 mi north from these xmitters located in Farmersburg. But hey we have HD.......one step forward and two steps backward...

Hey James...ur not getting 10.2 but WTHI is still broadcasting it...WTHI's signal is fairly weak now that it is Digital....I would suggest you try to get something up OUTSIDE...U will have way better reception on the Digital side...also...here in South Terre Haute, I can even get SUI channels at night...haha only PBS channels...Im only using a set of rabbit ears..but I'm in the South part of TH....but like I said earlier 10.2 is still on the air!!!

Also..make sure ur not seeing channel quality at 100% instead of signal strenght...i only get 10.1 and 10.2 around 68% signal but picture quality is still 100%

Good, I thought that they did away with it. I guess I assumed the Dish Network was signal strength...... no possibility of me putting something up as big as these outside though. Oh yea, LOVE your live feed of Vigo County, sitting here in Indy working and listening to it....GREAT!!!!!

James, have you tried deleting any old references to channel 10 in your digital tuner and then doing re-scan? I've read lots of reports from folks who are having scan problems in markets where the actual digital channel changed from some pre-transition UHF channel back to a post-transition VHF channel. Some of these problems have been solved by forcing the tuner to re-learn the channel assignments.

Also, I understand that some of the stations on VHF are asking for authorization to run more power. The FCC is considering these requests and has already granted some of them.

Actually the way I have it set up is that my antennas go into the Dish HD receiver. I rescanned the channels using the Dish receiver after the DTV conversion, and 10.2 is still there, but I have no signal. Note that I had this working using the same setup prior to the analog shutdown when Channel 10 was broadcasting in digital. Since the analog shutdown, I cannot receive 10.2 anymore.

Our Moderator is most generous for letting this thread go on here......

What I'm getting at is that what you call channel 10.2 is not where it used to be.

Before the transition, WTHI was broadcasting its digital signal on TV Channel 24. Your digital converter, whether it be an HDTV, a set-top box, or the OTA tuner in your satellite receiver, read the data coming in on 24 and displayed it to you as if it was 10.1, 10.2, etc. Now, post transition, WTHI has moved its digital broadcast to TV Channel 10. With most digital receivers, a rescan is all it takes to get the converter to understand that what used to be on 24 is now on 10. But, depending on the receiver and depending on the digital signal being broadcast, the receiver may be confused. That's why I suggest deleting 10.1 and 10.2 from the channel list in your receiver and then doing a scan. It might work. It might not. From your location, it sounds like you should be able to get 10.2 as well as you get 10.1.

Another problem that might be going on here. I know with DirecTV, if the guide data that they use for the local channels doesn't have all of the local channels, you won't get them using their OTA tuner. If, for some reason, Dish doesn't think 10.2 exists now (post-transition), maybe that's why you can't see it. Do you have a TV with a digital tuner or a digital converter box to see if it gets 10.2 even though your Dish receiver doesn't?

For DishNetwork Exsample 622-HD/DVR in the Local Channel Off AIR set up delete ALL channles then rescan the current software on these boxes get confused and will double some ch and miss new ones as well then see what you get I use DishNetwork and haveing the Off air tunner is great and these ch will all be listed in the guide if you seclect to show them in that same menue screen. NOTE for DishNetwork you will only get guide data for these off air ch if you subscribe to the locals in your area Dish got teird of peopl getting these boxes for off air use only and removed some of the guide functions for non paying locals

You were both right!!! I deleted all my local channels on the Dish HD receiver and did a rescan. The rescan found 10.2 I can now get 10.2 at 100 percent. The mistake I made was not deleting them before the rescan. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!

More on WTTK-DT...Later this summer, they will move their transmit location from the tower near Windfall (between Indianapolis and Kokomo) to WXIN's tower in Indianapolis. From what I have read elsewhere, they are waiting for tower climbers to install the new WTTK antenna.
Intentionally reviving an old thread.

According to reports elsewhere, the tower crew arrived in town yesterday and is getting set up. WXIN may go off the air sometime Saturday while the crew is on the tower. Look for WTTK to switch transmit locations any day now.

WTTK 29.1 is now on the air from it's new location on WXIN's tower in Indianapolis. I can receive it on the west side of Brownsburg with rabbit ears.

I am told that the new antenna that was installed is a hybrid which is tuned for both TV channel 45, which WXIN uses for its digital broadcast, and TV channel 29, which WTTK uses. Both transmitters are fed to the same antenna.

You may need to force your television or digital converter box re-scan in order to find WTTK. If you can receive WXIN off the air, you should be able to receive WTTK. Remember, WTTK broadcasts the same programming as WTTV. If you've been having trouble receiving WTTV, WTTK may be your solution.

Yes Bob, You are correct on 29.1 As close as I am getting a great picture in the area of 79Th and Michigan Road right under the transmitter with just the antenna on the back of the Sylvania DTV receiver I have in the Comm.Center.

I'm passing this along from AVS Forum (www.avsforum.com):

"Rick Poling at WTTK passes along a big thanks to those of you who posted reception reports relating to the new WTTK antenna/tower site and big power boost. He and the other engineers at the station are interested in knowing how well and how far the signal is being received, so feel free to keep the reports coming.

Rick also added, "and the tower crew did perform quite a feat lifting that 11,200 lb. antenna." That is one heavy antenna!"

If you have reception reports or comments regarding WTTK, you can contact the station directly. Phone numbers and email addresses are listed on their web site at: About Indiana's 4 - WTTV
