El Paso County Sites DTRS

A little info needed about sites in COS and El Paso Co.
I have a few Favorites lists programmed with certain sites:
Colorado Springs Simulcast
Cheyenne Mtn.
I also have some with Franktown, Calhan, Swank etc. depending on the area/department.
I have seen usually at night or evening many including EPCSO come up on the Truckton site, Is this a site I should input for all fav lists?
I'm wanting to limit the amount of sites it scans through. I do see Truckton come up a lot. I did a full database scan the other night and saw that come up most along with Cheyenne Mtn and COS simulcast.

Mountain Moose, These are my experience with these sites from my Northeast residence in Colorado Springs

Zone 4 Colorado Springs Simulcast will give you the majority of talk groups in Colorado Springs and El Paso County.

Zone 4 Swank for in the Northern El Paso SO North Ch 1, CSP 2B. Monument and Palmer Lake Fire in the remote area of the Palmer Divide. It will NOT, to my knowledge, carry Colorado Springs agencies up there

Zone 4 Calhan and Truckton are for the El Paso Co eastern and southern plains. I have not done any research on those sites.

Zone 6 Cheyenne Mt for Pueblo Co, CDOT snow plows and Interstate 25 Service Patrol trucks and El Paso Co Fire South Group, El Paso SO Ch 3 South Dispatch and CSP overload. Do not recall hearing any Colorado Springs agencies on this site.

Zone 1 Franktown in Douglas Co. Have not done any research for that either.

I use Zone 1 Douglas South Simulcast for Castle Rock and southern Douglas County in El Paso and Colorado Springs.

Hey there. Thanks for that info. I was looking at the site locations in RR here and see Truckton being out east county area. What I have noticed though ( in full database mode) that Truckton sites come up in tje evenings and night for EPCSO. I may just add it. I do see that many of these sites overlap into other counties. Like some overlap up into Castle Rock and vice versa. I just don't want to overload my Fav. Lists with too many sites but want the correct sites to cover all agencies I listen to.

Hi, Calhan, Franktown and Truckton are out of range at my residence so I cant help you there.

I program my SDS 100s with Colorado Springs Simulcast, Cheyenne Mt and Douglas Co South. I listen to Colo Spgs Simulcast all the time. When I hear any thing interesting on El Paso Red I will turn those other sites.

Specifically, Favorite 1 Colorado Springs Fire and other city agencies Favorite 2 El Paso for Fire, SO, CSP, Pikes Peak Rangers and El Paso Search and Rescue Favorite 3 Cheyenne Mt for the CDOT and overload and Favorite 4 is Ft Carson since Ft Carson is now active with all the South Group calls.

Got it. You are in the NE COS? Wonder if you are near me? I can get all those sites from my place. Off Briargate/Research/Powers.

I would suggest you get a few RTL SDR dongles and Unitrunker 2, that way you can monitor/log DTR sites 24/7. This will give you a very comprehensive picture of which TGs/RIDs frequently affiliate to which sites.

Hi. I'm off Powers/Galley. I monitor Colorado Springs Simulcast, Cheyenne Mountain and Douglas County Simulcast South. Pretty much covers everything for me. I have tried Calhan, Franktown and Truckton along with Fountain Valley but have not noticed much if any improvement over the above mentioned sites in my experience.

HI Tex, Best to post this as it's own thread so you can get input from as many as possible. So it's seen more. Where are you scanning from? What area of the county/city? What scanner?

Just FYI CSPD is unfortunately all ENC, so far El Paso County primary channels are not. Any how you need to get familiar with the RR database, everything is listed there. Depending on your location there is a lot to monitor in El Paso County.
