Fallback mode

Hello.

A friend of mine was listening to the OPP and he said he just heard N.BAY Dispatch tell all units on the TALKGROUP go to "FALLBACK MODE".

So I am just wondering if anyone on here can tell me what "FALLBACK MODE" is, because I never heard of this before.

So if anyone on here can tell me what it means. I will know and can let my friend know as well. So the next time we hear dispatch say that. We will know what it means.

So I will be waiting for any replies to this post. Thanks.

Most likely everyone is being asked to switch to a SIM (common) channel - trunking system is going down for repair, or there is an issue.

correct me if i am wrong when they go fall back mode means that the system controller is gone failsoft

Dispatchers sometimes use the terminology interchangeably (and incorrectly) so it's difficult to say if they truly were in failsoft, or site trunking or whatever form of degraded mode. Chances are work was being done on the site and the units were being informed to switch over to SIM11.
