Start off with a couple of questions, I'm sure there are folks here that can help - what are you trying to program, where are you (city/county/state will do) and do you have the correct cable (most are using the RS USB cable) to connect to your PC?

To find frequencies for your area, check the database. 73s Mike

Hi ltdei3:

Welcome, and we can assume you are in VA?

In addition to Mike's suggestions, look at the Radio Shack forum and wiki pages on this site, and maybe think about the Pro97 Yahoo group, although I don't think it is very active.

If you are out here in central VA, that is, west of Richmond, I have a few Win97 files but most of them are Air and Military Air since that's mainly what I use my '97 for.

Also, what is beeping, the scanner or the PC? Are you sure it works---press the weather scan key and see if you hear any weather stations.

ltdei3,

Adding to the above notes,
Beeps (plural) are indications of incorrect programming of an EDACS trunking system. If the system is EDACS, the bank mode must be set to ED and so should each of the LCN frequencies. They must also be programmed in the correct order (Logical Channel Number). This order is as indicated in the database pages in RR.

As a premium subscribed member of RR, you can use the Web Import feature which will correctly set the various trunking systems during import to Win97, ready to send to the scanner.

View this RadioReference Wiki Web Import link on using web import. This Pro-96 import is identical for use with the Pro-97.

The attach is an example of setting an EDACS system in Win97. This was setup using Web Import. Note the LCN is channel 01 through 10. Channel 00 is never used for EDACS system, but some LCN's may skip channel numbers.
