HP-2: HP 2 error computer message

When i connect My HP-2 to my Dell computer running win 10 i get this error message. "the last usb device connected to this computer has malfunctioned and is no longer has failed and is no longer recognized by windows" or words to that effect. my hp-1 still works with same cable. was informed i might have to re format my sd card. not sure how to do that. any help appreciated.
