Can someone please tell me how to get the IC40s software to work under XP and Vista?

Are you talking about the IC F40 handheld radio?

I have an F-30GT and F-40GT (I think the software is the F3 or something like that), and it works just fine in XP.

I think you will find that he is talking about the Icom Handheld for the Australian UHF CB band.

The software for the IC-40S was written for DOS, and has never been updated.

I have two of the F40LT UHF 16 channel radios. To program them, I use an old 200 mhz Pentium computer and boot it off of a WIN95 floppy to an A:\, then run the Icom software from its floppy. It is a PIA to do, but it is the only way the software can find the serial port. New computers just won't work even if you get a screen that looks like DOS.
