• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

What is the difference with this cable vs the KPG-36x ?

the cable is straight USB with nothing in between (native to the 5/6/7/8000 series radios)
(think of it like a type A USB to micro-usb - Viking mobiles all have the Micro USB on them)

I wonder if FW would be faster with that cable...although it seems like most of the time is internal to the radios...

Kenwood will charge you even more for that cable than they charged for the KPG-36X. Bend over.

"Viking Subscriber Software 24.1.1 Maintenance Release" (v1.42.15, released today) replaces "Viking Subscriber Software 24.1 General Release" (v1.42.12, released a couple weeks ago), which should not be used, as it can corrupt some CTCSS values in codeplugs.

ARMADA 1.42.15.218 Still 151.4 problem and work around

Newest CPS still has the 151.4 problem in that when you try to put in 151.4 from drop down menu it instead inserts 67.0. My radio has FPP so by using that I was able to set the CTCSS to 151.4 manually on the radio itself. Initial brief test with another radio showed the tone to be functioning in and out but please test for yourself to verify. This would suggest this is strictly a CPS problem and not a radio/firmware issue.

New: Viking Subscriber Software 24.1.2 Maintenance Release, dated June 18, 2024, contains Armada 1.42.17 (the only change from 1.42.15) that fixes the 151.4 and 79.7 Hz CTCSS bug. It replaces 24.1 (1.42.12) and 24.1.1 (1.42.15).

Dear MEMEBERS AND NEWCOMERS

Please take this as information for any and all future PC purchases.

From KWD Tech Support;

Hey Evans .. our official reply is this platform is not supported.
Not to say some users have got it to work, I think they may have but we don’t say it’s compatible.
Only Windows NON-ARM BASED Processor pc's is our official support for KPG-D1N and other KPG-D FPU's.
This includes the Windows Surface Pro devices with SnapDragon.
