Having occasionally criticized AMR's Stanislaus/San Joaquin dispatch center, I want to mention something I heard done right over the weekend.
Around 1100 on Saturday 10/6 (I forget the precise time), San Joaquin Fire Control 1 had two structure fires going at once, two medical calls, and an MVA happening at about the same time, involving multiple departments but with limited resources requiring some units to quickly clear to take the other calls. Plus, law enforcement had to be called to one or two of these events.
For Lathrop Fire, Manteca Fire, and Manteca District Ambulance, plus the other department with the other structure fire (I forget whom), this was pretty chaotic stuff, but the AMR dispatcher did an excellent job of being in control and holding everything together. The radio was handled about as well as could be done and better than lots of agencies would have handled it.
This dispatcher did an excellent job and should be commended. I hope somone at Lifecomm will see this and pass it on.
