Greetings. I have several systems in my FL #1, which I have been listening to for years, suddenly quit sucanning. In going through my systems I find that out of 24 systems systems 11, 14-22 will no longer scan. They register on the system list and I can turn them on/off, but if I isolate these, the scanner gives the message "nothing to scan" even though they are on. I tried deleting them and reinstalling them, changing Quick Keys and even moved them to another FL and still nothing. I even deleted them off the computer program and the scanner and reprogramed/reinstalled....nothing. 11, 14-22 still will not scan. I have the service types enabled, all the data appear intact. With the sudden loss of scanning (literally overnight) and the random systems affected.....I'm thinking SD card corruption. Thoughts?? Thanks in advance.

It can be a problem with the location control. If you have a GPS coordinate that are too far off and you have location control set to those systems, then the sites will not load and you will get "nothing to scan". Double check everything related to the sites and locations control.

Please attach your favorites list file so that we can take a look at it. Go to the File tab in Sentinel and click on Export to hpe file (Favorites List). You will need to zip the exported file to be able to attach it. Click on Attach files and open the zipped file.

Thanks. I do have service types enabled, I do not use location scanning and I don't use Sentinal...I use Butel, but I will investigate how to send files.

Can you make a hpe file of that system and post, as service types are in the profile but checked and only other thing in profile might be Broadcast Screen but seems unlikely that you have edited that and then forgot about it.

Go into system 11 and check that there's a site for it and it is not avoided and check a department that it isn't avoided. Are system 11 conventional or trunked?

Will attempt to copy/export file.....not save on how to do this but will try. Also a new rub is it is now not scanning sublets within the systems unless I hold on them. I am more and more suspecting SD card problems. Also I can enter/ transfer systems above the last quick key entered and it will enter but still not scan. For instance...QK 23 will not scan...QK 24 will, but any QK above 24 will not...strange.

Use a program like SDFormatter and select the option format to Full Overwrite and it will go thru all memory cells and if one is bad it will mark that and not use it. Then copy your configuration from Sentinel to the SD card.

So after giving up on 10 year old tech and seeing the prospect of things deteriorating......I pulled the trigger and finally bought an SDS 100. What an amazing difference. I am hearing systems near me that were previously unmonitorable due to multipath distortion. However....this new scanner is doing the exact same (sorry for the redundancy) thing. So I can fairly safely say it isn't SD card corruption (as I feel that an identical problem on a new card in a new scanner are about the odds of being struck by lightning and hit by a meteor simultaneously).

I have been using Butel software since prior to the 436HP (at least 10 years) w/o problem. The problem with the 436 happened suddenly, and as I recall, independently of using the software for a download. However using this same software to download to the new scanner makes me wonder if the program could be somehow corrupted. Post #4 doesn't help for file share as I don't use Sentinel but I will check and see if it is possible with Butel. I also need some duct tape to keep my head from exploding. Any other thoughts are appreciated. Thanks.

You will need to install Sentinel anyhow as firmware upgrades needs it. After installing Sentinel you read the scanner and all your programing will be shown in Sentinel. Maybe some of your settings will be easier to see in Sentinel, or export to HPE and post for others to be able to help.
