No, you don't need to worry about programming time slots for Cap Plus systems. An ID could appear on any time slot for a given transmission.

Dave,

You are correct, that should have been 461.600 as the last channel. I'm looking at the license a little more closely and I don't see the expected inputs for those last 2 channels licensed, so I'm wondering if it's just the 3 channels. Those last 2 could be some kind of talk around or simplex.

I wish there was a more robust/better tool out there for monitoring these systems.

I can also confirm that the Buffet at Caesar's Palace is using the smaller Motorola SL4000 radios in talk around mode - I was never able to get a frequency. These are the smaller/slimmer executive style radios that look a lot like a cell phone.

Normal operations at Caesar's is stilling using the trunked system.

Thanks. There may an ID for the pedicabs (if they still use those). There was an ID for them on the previous Miracle Mile LTR system.

As an update, since I've been spending almost all my scanning time listening to and looking for MOTOTRBO stuff here in Vegas, just a bit ago I noted activity on the Fremont Street Experience so:

Fremont Street Experience 464.100
Color Code 7
Group 104
Slot 1

The communications content leads me to believe it's Security 2 or Secondary mainly because it was happening simultaneously with activity on Group 103 Slot 0. Personally I prefer to use the term "Channel" myself where Slot 0 is Ch 1 and Slot 1 is Ch 2 which is how DMRDecode refers to the slots - pretty sure if I had a MOTOTRBO unit it would more than likely use Ch 1 and Ch 2 as designators but I don't know for certain.

Anyway, there's something additional to take note of if anyone hasn't already.

I've got a fairly decent list now of frequencies here in the Vegas area where I've detected DMR/MOTOTRBO transmissions, and I'm still looking for new ones all the time in their given ranges. I noted activity down in the VHF-Hi range between 151.400 and 153.000 MHz (Southwest Communications primarily), the majority of activity between 451-455 and 460-465 MHz, with a hit or two in the 935-940 MHz range as well (Boyd Gaming is highly active there, appears to be what they're using for the California, Fremont, and Main Street Station casinos now with a lot of groups as well).

If anyone is interested in what I've put together let me know, I'll either post it here or I can PM the info as requested.

EDIT:
Also, I noted the frequency of 463.850 MHz (license info here) which was just licensed to the Fremont Street Experience on the 12th of December 2013 (basically 2 weeks ago) and it's for the proper MOTOTRBO emissions so I suspect this is part of their continual growth, who knows. Shows 100 mobiles on the license so it's either directly for the Fremont Street Experience or some other purposes - I'm still trying to figure out what system/frequencies the Downtown Rangers, part of the Downtown Project, will be using with their handhelds when they patrol the downtown area as well.

I have not detected any activity on that newly assigned frequency as of the time of this post, however.

I'd be interested in your TRBO finds, as I'm sure a few others would. You could post them in this thread. Thanks.

Ok, I'll attach my current (as of this post) list of what I've got. Mind you it's somewhat of a haphazard mess I suppose, there's some info preceding the list - more of my infamous rambling I suppose - with the basic methodology I've found. Now, the issue for me is identifying actual talkgroups since I spent most all the past 2 weeks just looking for anything at all and recording the frequency then the color group because I figured I'd go back and do more focused monitoring to try and pick off the actual group purposes. Sometimes I get lucky and it's easy, most times it's not and all I can work with is whatever the hell people are talking about, but I'm sure some of you know exactly what I'm going through with this process.

I don't have access to the RRDB database, sadly, so this is a cumbersome process looking for the proper emissions per license - the FCC site doesn't allow for searching by emission types which would make things much easier I suppose (at least not that I've been able to figure out).

Anyway, the text file is attached, might be useful to some, might not but there it is.

Now, I'd like some help with something if anyone here in Vegas is able and it's regarding the Luxor NXDN system. I've looked at the FCC license info and based on the emissions they have 7 frequencies they work with (the repeaters):

451.45000
451.82500
451.95000
452.12500
461.85000
463.60000
464.77500

Funny thing for me is that I'm not picking them up at all on those frequencies, What I am getting is just off those, at very odd frequencies - and I know the first thing you'd to me is "Your SDR isn't calibrated" and I'd say yes it is: the most active single frequency I've picked up is supposed to be 463.60000 and I'm getting all the traffic on 463.59750 - I can't lock down the specific channel spacing on this system to save my life but 463.59750 matches a 7.5 kHz spacing assignment - I use 2.5 kHz for scanning anyway so it falls right on it.

Also, if you're thinking my SDR isn't calibrated and I said that it is, the reason is that I have the Fremont Street Experience at 464.10000 (just a hair up the scale) and also Trump International Hotel at 463.33750 (just a hair down) and both of those are locked in rock solid just by moving up or down the band (rolling the mouse wheel) - my tuner has a 57 ppm offset when it's warmed up and it's pretty much always warmed up so drift in this situation isn't an issue at all.

I'm simply not getting Luxor on their exact assigned frequencies at all and I'm hoping someone else can check that out so I know I'm not going insane. :)

I've tested this with both of my RTL sticks, one with the 57 ppm offset, one with a 50 ppm offset, and I get the same exact results with each: where Luxor's license says 463.60000, I'm getting them rock solid at 463.597500 every time.

I'm also getting NXDN traffic at:

463.62250 (could be Engineering)
463.62750 (sounds like Housekeeping calls)

As noted in the text file, I'm in downtown Vegas, just off the geographic center, in an apartment building on the 3rd floor with no outside antenna capability so I'm using either my Diamond RH-C77A for the VHF/UHF stuff since it's tuned to those bands or my trusty Radio Shack 800 MHz for the 800-900 MHz bands. The distance from the Luxor could be an issue for me but I can't believe the shifted frequencies are the result there.

I've spent time searching for anything else and so far this Luxor system just seems to be the only NXDN one so if anyone else can tune those frequencies above (the actually licensed ones, 7 in all) and tell me if you're getting hits I'd appreciate it.

Another update of sorts:

I'm suspecting that what I've been thinking is the Luxor isn't and that it's actually The D formerly known as Four Queens here in downtown Vegas. Two things lead me to believe this even though I can't find any data to back it up just yet:

1) the signal strength for these receptions is basically as loud/clear as it gets, peaking at 0 dB on the SDR# frequency spectrum

2) I just heard someone say "Can you go check out the slushy machine at the D Bar, they're having trouble with it" which is The D's outside bar directly under the canopy of the Fremont Street Experience.

But even so, I'm still not picking them up on their exact precisely assigned frequencies per the licensing info, which is really a bit strange to me. This whole NXDN thing is frought with a bunch of screwy things so far. :) The transmission I just monitored referencing the D Bar was on 463.62250 - and again this thing is calibrated as I just checked 464.10000 once again and it's fine.

Weird.

Some additional notes from my trip.

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino is TRBO and has been for awhile, here are the freqs and color codes I was able to verify:

464.275 CC2
461.550 CC2

TG's active:

30
35
45
50
65

One of the previously used frequencies for the old LTR system they were on is now a dedicated analog repeater for the pool area/operations:

462.350 107.2PL Pool Operations (Rehab at hard rock)

M Casino:

461.400 CC14
462.100 CC14

I heard both TG 101 and TG 106 used here but didn't spend a lot of time with this one because they seem to be encrypted now.

Stratosphere is also on a TRBO system now, didn't spend a whole lot of time there but they seem to be using a CC of 5.

Thanks for the updates. Next time I fly out to Vegas I'll bring along some dongles.

Also, the Motorola salesman has kept busy in Las Vegas!
