NYPD is now full time encrypting some precinct channels in Brooklyn. so far: 81, 83, 84, 88, 90, 94 Pcts moved to Full Time P25 E channels : 483.5625, 484.0625, 484.3125
The Bronx has also been doing the E testing as of this week also. Seems like they're going per borough

I'm assuming, they're going to do 3 zones at a time. Also can confirm 81/83 84/88 90/94 no radio traffic other than all housing units are using 84/88 for comms.

A sample of the automated message you'll be hearing a lot of over the Brooklyn zones if you haven't tuned in lately:

483.56250 - NAC A4E - Patrol Borough Brooklyn North 4 - 81/83
484.06250 - NAC BCD - Patrol Borough Brooklyn North 5 - 84/88
484.31250 - NAC 8B8 - Patrol Borough Brooklyn North 6 - 90/94

These are the assignments until the respective zones have had the required upgrades completed. Submission being made. And yes, this is confirmed. No speculation.

Ignoring the usual nonsense above, this is the new RR Database Listing, with NAC, and Callsign for the new NYPD E channels. Sentinel should have these changes monday.

Couple questions.

1) why does each frequency have a different FCC license? The NYPD couldn't combine the freqs into one license?

2) with these new P25 freqs, are they repeated/able to be received citywide or are they just available in certain areas like their analog predecessors?

To answer your second question, usually NYPD precinct frequency transmitters are located in the area of the precincts they are servicing and they are not meant to be citywide. These are p25 repeaters. You will not be able to hear any communications on these new p25 100% encrypted channels.

1) The FCC limits the amount of fixed locations per license to 6
2) If you refer to the licenses you just asked about, you'll see that the transmit locations are quite geographically limited

Bronx 46/48 and 47/49 to begin "maintenance" soon. Similar recording to what's being played in the Bronx will be heard once the zones go down. Testing on them continued today, but they have since reverted back to analog. As of now each borough will cut over zones from North to South in each borough. Plans subject to change.

Did you happen to log the nac codes from today's testing in the Bronx ?
