Hey there,

I created a dedicated channel to my RTL-SDR setup that monitors the Phoenix, AZ Police in addition to surrounding areas. It's in stereo to allow mulitple conversations at one time, and I was wondering what comments, suggestions, or criticisms anyone had on it? Currently it's a display capture from my machine running SDRtrunk, but I'm totally open to changing the layouts or adding things to make it more fun or easier to understand. Whenever I "do work" on the setup or filters, I leave it running so people can watch.

** If I'm not supposed to post the link here, I apologize.. but it seemed like it was ok based on the description of the Forum. **

Primary YouTube Channel:
I'm not posting the actual URL for the stream itself, because I believe YouTube has a max of 260 hours(!) (or I just happened to drop offline after that amount of time) - Either way, the URL is likely to change from time to time, but I like being able to use my YouTube channel when I can't use the Broadcastify or other scanner apps, which has happened enough times that I created this :)

Cheers!

And what happens when more than 2 talkgroups are active at once? If it satisfies your intent, then good luck with it. Seems like a Broadcastify Calls node would be better.
Actually thats a great question and, for the moment, it's split between Right and Left channels. Just like Broadcastify, etc.

haha.. Yes. I have to review the OBS settings because they appear to have reverted back to "Eat Your Machine ALIVE" mode again. Thanks for the feedback! Some of the choppiness of audio is due to me using a very small antenna which is also located inside of a garage. I have a nice setup that I'm going to attach it to once the weekend roles around.

Yes, but then one couldn't try to monetize their "free" feeds via SpamTube.
I would write a thoughtful reply on why I personally dislike the idea of simply joining a collective of where everyone else already is, but your mind is already made up about me. I would invite you to attempt monetizing a YouTube channel that only broadcasts police scanners 24/7, though! ;) (Spoiler: You can't.)

For anyone else reading that's curious:
I've had a lot of fun working within the constraints of OBS and YouTube's platform, because having less options requires more thinking. I really do recommend any video platform, but for reach YouTube for anyone that's interested in sharing their scanner to the world. Whether you choose to do a simple screen capture of SDRtrunk like I'm doing, or have a live video feed of your hardware doing it's thing, the creative side of what you do with your mediums (both video and audio) are endless.

As far as thinking there's no reason to put it on YouTube as well as Broadcastify, etc: There's absolutely a "market" (haha) on YouTube for people that just aren't good with computers/devices and don't know how to install apps like Scanner Radio or whatever people use. I've had more than one elderly individual message me and thank me for the stream, and I guess as far as payment goes, there is a currency of "thank yous" that I definitely enjoy. You won't find me regretting my decision for a second just based on the really cool people I've met so far.

Plans for the future are to expand it, as long as it doesn't keep hurting me too much financially. I'd like to migrate central Phoenix/downtown off to it's own channel and pull Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, etc on to a separate dedicated channel or two to cut down on the craziness during congestion periods. I've found that cheap(er) $100ish Dell Optiflex thin clients work pretty well for this. Surprisingly, the original machine I used was a MacBook Pro and it completely folded under the task of decoding P25, whereas a $50 Dell is decoding everything wonderfully.
