Just got this scanner as a gift, and I am having trouble programming.
I have created my talk group with the system frequencies given for my city, but I am for some reason only picking up on one of those frequencies(stated as conventional channel, not talkgroup) which happens to be the police channel. How do I get it to where i use the "primary control channel" for the multiple I.D.'s for Fire, EMS, etc?

If it helps my city is Rapid City, South Dakota; The primary control channel which picks up the police currently is 156.09000. The system is said to be a Motorola Type II SmartZone if that helps....

PLEASE HELP!!!

Are you using any programming software and do you have the programming cable? If you do I could build you a quick file to get you going.

Just from taking a quick look Pennington County, South Dakota (SD) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference It appears that your local police and other city freqs are analog Conventional. Your State Radio system is the Motorola Type II system.

I found this page as well, however the reason i stopped using the analog freqs was because my city and state apparently went to digital trucking, like you said the motorola type II system. Any ideas on what to do????

The primary CC is the one in RED, not the BLUE. All of the red and blue CC's need to be in the scanner. You must also put in a custom table to make the system work properly in your scanner. It is easier if you are using programming software. Oh, and your city is on the state system. They may use the VHF conventional as a backup. Probably best info is in the SD state forum further down the forums page.

I do not see this.... I dont have scanner software because i was told this pro 106 is easy to program for my area. It seems like instead of hearing each individual group i.e fire medical or police, they are all coming from the tower freq of 156.09000 and will break up during transmission. Is there any easy way to program this without the software? Where did you see the VHF info? SOO CONFUSED!!!!

Let me tell you what I have done thus far....

New: TSYS- and put in all the control freqs given for my city( 6 total)
after this it allows me to enter new TGRP's which i have been entering the DEC number given for my City police department, and still get no audio.

Does this help you understand where I am at?

Ok so heres whats new..... After setting the T-tables and what not, I did go and try leaving it at MOT 800/900 and MOT VHF settings. Both would pick up a signal from the police talkgroup but there would be no voice.... what is the problem?
