I was wondering if anyone has any pros or cons from purchasing a scanner from amazon?
But I would rather buy from mom and pop establishments
If Amazon has the radio you want at a good price, I would go for it. I've bought a few from them because they had the best price at the time. The fast shipping and easy returns is a big plus. I always pay attention to who the actual seller is on Amazon and I try to avoid purchasing anything that is sold through a 3rd party.
Everyone probably would, but in 2018 there aren't a whole lot of mom and pop stores selling scanners..
In case you haven't heard, R+L is not carrying the Uniden SDS100, if that's what you're in the market for. I don't know why. There are mom and pop ham radio dealers that I've had great experiences with.
Ham City and R+L Electronics are two. Each had better prices and service than Amazon.

I will no longer do business with Amazon.
FYI - you're lining Bezos' pockets right now by visiting radioreference.com, which is hosted with Amazon Web Services.
