Only RS store within 50 miles having a 'going out of business sale' has scanners at FULL price, only 10% off, and won't match the online price or 10% off the online price. So radio is $499 - 10% or $258 on website from one of the non-closing stores - this is messed-up. Local store never had $20 deal - they just closed the doors and left stuff after 40% off only. They did have a FEW items for 80% off, but it was total crap phone cases and junk drawer parts. Not handling this liquidation very consistently between stores or regions, or fairly, IMO.

Certain area handle liquidation differently and some areas was not consistent at all. In my area they seem to do it right and did it in phases and put out stock a little at a time. RadioShacks in NY area for example handle liquidation very poorly and stay full price all the way to the very end and then clearance out their stock at 80% 90% last minute. So where you hear these stories that some bought the Pro-668 for $50 - $99 bucks and most when to one person who bought them all out for that reason. If they handle it better they could have receive more money and would have been spread out. Was just in a couple area they did that, wasn't common as most areas where they handle liquidation correctly. Scanners and other valuable stock was gone before it hit those prices and only things left was pretty much almost worthless crap.

Was at Lawrence Park Shopping Center in Marple, PA earlier tonight and noticed the store closing 20-50% off entire store signs up in the Radio Shack there. Originally it was thought by the employees this location would stay open along with the one not far away at Manoa Shopping Center. Well the Manoa Shopping Center location is staying open (and I passed by it on the way home and saw a big Sprint sign in the front window so I guess that's a tell tale sign). Heard the guy there (older guy) mention the store will probably be open until the end of May - time will tell I'm sure. Nothing too spectacular inside deal wise or anything. They had a Pro 651 and Pro 652 on display behind the counter but no other scanners out. I'll check back there in a few weeks when prices drop more.

What's interesting is talking to the guy in alamogordo he said the original radio shack staff and manager quit left for different employment as soon as they heard they were closing 2 weeks ago. He just is standing in for the sale as acting manager. He said his helper employee was arrested on larceny charges from another retail store. Is his first job and as a employee and manager. Lol. He's sticking to 10 percent on electronics and 20 on the irrelevant knick knacks. Says they close June 16. no scanners except 3 pro 162 at 359 piece says 50 dollars off from original leaving it 359. Isnt worth it since it's analog only. They had a few empty spots by looks of shelf tags handhelds analog for 100 bucks but to me was not worth it Being entire area is about to go digital. Mostly cell phones and computer parts or speakers people been hitting. Tons and tons of batteries and rechargeable batteries and phone cases still. Waiting to see if he drops lower and wait it out to stock up on the knick knacks. But like I said he said alamogordo store is closing June 16.

This article says that Sprint is opening it's "store within a store" at 1,435 of the remaining 1,743 RadioShack stores on Friday. Sprint says it will take approximately 1/3 of the space inside these stores which is consistent with the floor plans we saw posted earlier.
So it sounds like some will remain as Radio Shacks only?

Pro 651 and Pro 652 deep discount at Radio Shack

Per the Radio Shack website, the Pro 651 is on sale for $221.65 and the Pro 652 is on sale for $255.99. It says both are already sold out online but might be available in a store.

Hello,

I was also surprised to see Store Closing signs yesterday at the Radio Shack in the Woburn Mall here in MA. I need to check my local stores, my city has two Radio Shacks.

Went to a 'going out of business' RS in Michigan; their 20% discount is off the FULL LIST PRICE of the scanner; in other words, almost twice what you can get it online - so NO bargains whatsoever. They also had bogus 50% off signs above their kits that would only ring-up 20% off at the register. Typical RS crap that online would be cheaper, if they were in stock as they will NOT match online pricing.

Eric,
No signs for closing at Chelsea, with all new Sprint banners, but still the ole Radio Shack marquee outfront

I agree.

I just went to the local RS here in South Central PA where it is 30-50% off everything and yes, they had a 652 for 30% off. It was on a display table as soon as you walk in the door for $296! Wow, some deal, huh? And all sales final too.

The drawers were all at 50% off, but I really didn't need anything from them.

This store was 20-50% last week. What do you folks think it'll go to next? I just can't see them doing a 50% off EVERYTHING, but you never know.

The one closest to me in Maryland went to 50% off everything in store back in January. I picked up a 652 for about $180 and a 396xt for $199. I couldn't walk away at those prices. Went back a couple more times same week and picked up cables, antennas and other stuff at 50% and when I went by the next week they were done. Gone.

This store was in a fair sized mall.

I have another local one that just went to 20-50% last week in a shopping center. They don't have anything much I am interested in though. Mostly a phone store. Only scanner was an analog model relatively useless in this area. They were packing stuff up though so I expect they will be gone in a week.

I dont think there will be anymore radioshack branded scanners. The pro 651,652 and 668 is 50% now on the web site. Looks like they clearing out any left over inventory.
