Terre Haute, IN store seems to be defunct. I was past there last night on my way to Menard's (who God bless 'em stays open till 10:00 PM this time of year) and while it would have been closed anyway, was dark and appeared empty. The big "Radio Shack" letters on the overhead are still there but all of the banner-mania was gone and there was just a small paper, maybe 8.5X14, stuck in the window next to the door. Small print, couldn't read it from the curb and I didn't park and walk over there. It was yet another of the stores that was "definitely going to stay open." Guess I've had my final visit to Radio Shack. It's been a drag going there for several years now but at least I still have some good memories of when it was actually Radio Shack and not let-us-idiots-who-know-nothing-of-electronics-sell-you-a-phone-you-don't-need.

I got 72 AA batteries for fourteen bucks yesterday. I was hoping to score rechargeables like I did once before...got ten packs of four for like fifteen bucks.

"Memorabilia online auction" link is now up on their webpage.

They found some items while cleaning out HQ.

Can't say that I truly miss them as a company. They haven't been what I remembered for a long, long time. I do feel for the front line employees though - not a good time for them.

Don't feel too bad for the employees. A majority of them are probably celebrating the company's demise. For many, it's been a thankless pain for a long time now. Many left earlier this year, and got better jobs at better pay. Having been active on the company's employee forum, I can say with certainty that many people were very unhappy. There are too many reasons for that dissatisfaction to review here.

Well that's good to hear - that most were able to move on to their own betterment I know I've read many complaints from former employees, and it seems that was a very common theme. Agreed, no use to re-hash it all here, would likely take some time!

Hello,

Down to the final days. I hit a number of stores yesterday on the North Shore of Boston. Some did not have much, but turned out to have a few items other stores did not have. The Gloucester, MA store seemed to be the most stocked, likely because it is out of the way on Cape Ann.

I discovered the SMA right angle connectors were $1 because they are in the parts drawer, so I bought a number of them. I also picked up several BNC and UHF right angles. I have several SDRs and receivers with horizontal RF connectors, so they will be useful if I wanted to throw a antenna on them. I also picked up a number of adapters and some parts for an upcoming project.

I also bought cables and tools. I spent $$$ to save a lot of $$$. :)

I have also acquired many items from my local Radio Shack store including adapters of all types, cables, antenna's, etc. I have received probably $2000 worth of merchandise for around $200. I scored around 20 of their 800Mhz antenna's for about $5 a piece which I consider one of the best 800Mhz antenna's on the market.

Hello,

I do not dare total everything up, but it is likely in the same ballpark. I got a couple of spare 800 MHz antennas, but I will likely get some scanners/receivers in the future that will need them.

I stumbled across a neat adapter in my quest, #274-0031. The description on the front is just 1/8 Stereo Male to Dual 1/8 Female, but then I saw it had a four conductor plug. I looked on the back and saw it was meant to plug a two plug headset into a phone. The four conductor plug on phones can have slightly different wiring, but this worked with a headset. This should allow me to feed audio into my phone as well.

Yup scored on those same antenna's too in my California Stores. I got like 10 of them and got all sorts of computer adapters and all sort of stuff. You could fill a medium size bag for 60 bucks. I got about 2000 dollars worth of stuff for 180.00 bucks. Got very high end long HDMI cables and all sorts of scanner radio angle adapters. Maybe try and sell this stuff on EBAY but its already slammed on that stuff.
