I'm usually not very impressed with the car installs but I must say that you did a bang up job on this one.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. Lots of work and money has gone into the install.

The screwdriver mount is handmade (by me) from steel flat stock. When I was searching for a mount, I could'nt find anything quite right. I just decided to do it right, I was going to have to do it myself. I make mounts and custom brackets all of the time at work, so it wasn't a stretch for me. I'm a Motorola two-way radio tech. I started out installing.

Beautiful install!! I too own a S-10 but it is the 2004 Crew Cab, to bad it has a console down the middle, hence my install issues :(. In the newer pictures what is the top box with the blue LCD? Looks pretty interesting to me...

That is the brand new HamHUD II APRS display that I helped design over the past 6 months. The HamHUD project http://www.hamhud.net/hh2 is about 7 years old now. There are too many features to explain here, but that link above will take you to the manual and other documents to help explain the whole thing.

Recently we redesigned the PCB and based it around a "no wires" principle along with a custom extruded case from Hammond Manu. The result was a all new design with a full kit to go along with it. We ran 100 kits, of which 92 were sold before they even shipped. The remainder, along with 15 additional kits are going with me to Dayton for Hamvention. I will be in booths 213 and 214 along with Argent Data Systems (OpenTracker) and APRSWorld.net. I have now been with the project for about 6 years. Anyone attending, please come by and say hi.

Here is my page with pictures of the protoypes I built before the production run as well as additonal install pics of mine: http://www.ke4nyv.com/phpmenu/hamhudreve.php

For those interested, the first thing to do is go to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/hamhud and join the Yahoo message group for the project. From there you can inquire about kits left over for sale, ect.

It's a ricer wing on a Monte Carlo...good god.

Jason...

Nice interior install. It's good to see the results when someone takes the time to do the job correctly. I'm personally not a fan of pedestal mounts, however your execution of them was very clean. I understand you have the need for a few sticks on a standard cab truck, esp. running APRS, so not too bad overall on the exterior...roof seems cluttered, but whaddya gonna do?

Very nice overall.
