I have had an odd thing happening lately on my SDS100 if not used for a couple of days. When powering on, it shows nothing to scan. I have to go into the set scan mey and turn on the systems manually. They had been on when last powered down. It works fine once I do this but just wondering if this is a precursor to something bigger?
Thank you

That sounds like the scanner is not saving its configuration to the memory card.

I would connect the scanner to your PC & select Mass Storage mode.

To make sure that all the Favorites lists on the scanner are duplicated in Sentinel, then read the scanner into the software.

Once you've done that, with the scanner still in mass storage mode, I would suggest formatting the card. If you have not already saved the this, use the formatted at this link: SD Memory Card Formatter | SD Association

After formatting the card, with the scanner still in mass storage mode, use the 'Clear User Data' link under the drop-down Scanner menu in Sentinel. That creates the folder structure needed to use the card.

Then, use your profile to reload Favorites lists and the database back to the scanner's card.

Of course, if you already have a spare card set up, you can simply change out the one in the scanner.

If formatting & re-loading the card does not help, I'd try another card before resorting to sending it in for repair.

If it was working ok b4, try changing the SDHC and make sure it’s a SanDisk. Make sure all your settings are correct on Sentinel and reformat and reprogram on your PC. It’s good practice to change your SDHC card every couple of years. I have 3 that I interchange every week because remember that the SDS and x36 series rewrite on the memory card all the time you operate your scanner with the replay function. Ever time I make a change to my scanner I save a copy to a USB dongle, there’s a copy that Sentinel stores in C drive and I have to update my 3 SDHC cards. This keeps me with plenty of backup’s. Ive lost everything b4 with a bricked hard drive and never again. I ve got many and many of years of frequencies programmed in my scanner and I have made sure that I have plenty of backup copies.

...if not used for a couple of days...
Buy a new 32GB SD micro card, as those are the most popular and cheapest one. It seems like the data on the card are lost after a couple of days. The file that are saved with the info what scan settings you have are written to a new place on the memory card at each power off, so if it's a continuing problem it has to be a SD card issue.

As inexpensive as SD cards, even the Endurance variety, I suggest you get several. Spares are good things to have. . .
