Note4...Both 62-3576 from Pease and 62-3578 from McGuire use the same hex code. Unless they program a callsign (or one is heard on the radio), it's impossible to distinguish between the two aircraft strictly from a Mode-S transmission.

And here's the next chunk of the SBS log for today:

Alan I had a TEFLON 14 inbound McGuire with arrival message on
TORCH Ops at 1650 local so could be that 62-3578.

Space Shuttle gonna finally make it today at 6:03 PM?

Good launch!
BTW been told that the new C-17 destined for Hungary is possibly at KCHS and
scheduled for Europe Saturday. We should catch it thru here hopefully.

I've been hearing the shuttle comms since "negative return". It's about a 10-second delay to hearing it on TV.

VADER 02 (C-130H, 89-9102) in at 2153Z, departure at 2245Z.

NAVY 7W 415 (UC-12B, unid) departed at 2235Z.

RHINO 15 (C-5A, unid) is training right now. I think that's an ERCC from RHINO 02 earlier today.

VADER 02 is back, landing at 0038Z, and off again at 0110Z...must've been taking the 445th AES out on a mission.

Also, the sixth and final Janet replacement is stopping in tonight on the way to Vegas:

737-66N, c/n 29892/1305. Previously B-5037 with Air China. Flown OBBI-EINN-KBGR-KMIA as N892SR, then registration changed to N288DP before flying to KFFO. Mode S is 50566014 (A2EC0C).

KCHS is as good as anywhere for the new SAC 01 C-17A. I didn't hear where it went for sure. It's moving with callsign BRK01. Hex is 477FF1 so we should be able to spot it if it comes through this area - and it should.

Agree that TEFLON 14 could be the 62-3578 guy. He's about the only one that didn't have the TEFLON callsign programmed. Most of them carried it as TEFLN except for 13 who went with TFLON which shows in one of my chunks of daily log above. I just checked though and had AE026D starting here at 1638 so I'm fairly sure that lines up with what you heard.

Seems odd as 47**** range is normal Scandanavian aircraft range but
maybe for tax/neutrality purposes they did that.. LOL
I see Norway,Sweden and Finland part of C-17 group so that explains it.

2005 local REACH 9190 was in area first mistakenly with Dover CP then
finally realizes he is going to Mcguire.. DOH!
C-17 #89-9190 437th at KCHS headed across.
Requests onboard meal service at McGuire for unknown # of pax.
Will pay cash at $4.50 per pax.. hmmm..slightly cheaper than the regular airlines.

2125 MARINE 2 inbound KILG on tower 126.000 after Philly appch 119.750
Must be VP Joe back in town visiting.
2145 Departs KILG as NIGHTHAWK 8 tower sw to Balt/Pot appch 124.550

BOEING 288DP calling Dispatch at 0159Z. "Understand we have some people waiting for us?"

Cleared to land 23R at 0221Z.

Listening back to today's recordings, I missed one:

CODY 01 (KC-135, unid) calling Metro for weather at Andrews; 150 miles from Patterson

Splash 8

1315 EDT just had Splash 8 (id as UH-1) cross over MTN enroute to the Aberdeen Proving Grounds. Splash is new callsign for me.

1318- PAT 12 flt (id as 2 X UH-60s) w/Phillips tower (126.15) and MTN tower (121.3) for transit of airspace enroute to Baltimore.

Hi Guys,

I live in NYC and I have started listening to Milcom again after months of chasing fed stuff. I can hear most of A/C calling McGuire CP and W-105 stuff.

I remember may be a year ago I can hear NORAD on 270.1or 260.9, but lately I haven't been hearing any of their comms on either frequencies, did they move elsewhere? (I know frequencies you guys expertise on MD/DC/VA area, but I am hoping this would be a long shot! :))

Tacamo

1412- Just has some garbld/muffled comms on 311.0---all I was able to garner was " off the deck" so maybe one of the E-6s just left PAX

1415- Had Brick 91 (sounded like) w/PAX departure (121.0). He id'd self as heavy so he might be the E-6B.

Guys,

According to an item on the Milcom Blog the ZDC RCAG at Sea Isle (133.125 & 281.45) has been disestablished and the new site is at Atlantic City.

Having just read the FAA writeup on that change of the RCAG from Sea Isle to Atlantic City, I found a small problem. In the frequency notice, they said to cancel freq 278.5 at Sea Isle and begin using 281.45 at Atlantic City. Since 281.45 was the UHF all along, I'm not sure where that 278.5 freq came from. I suspect they'll put out a correction in the next couple of days. In the meantime, I'm going to watch that 278.5 freq in case they got it backward and we should be adding that to replace 281.45.

The other changes involve all the Patuxent freqs and how they are used for App/Dep but not changes to the freqs themselves. However, there was one little section I wasn't sure about as follows:
Delete Radar freqs 134.1, 270.8, 286.0
Add Radar freqs 362.6, 348.0, 135.025
Was 348.0 always assigned at Pax? If so, I didn't have it programmed.

The 260.9 freq is still in use by HUNTRESS (NORAD) during CAPs and scrambles. I think the other freq you're trying to remember is 271.0 which is used in the NYC area by NORAD for the same reasons. Unless, there's a CAP in progress, you probably won't hear them.

Tin,

348.0 is new to me as well--have it in now just in case. I'm confused too on 270.8---I'm getting trfc on it today. Never knew about the 134.1 "radar" freq and 135.025 has been used for years as a GCA/alternate freq

I was going to ask about Sea Isle as I haven't logged anything on
ZDC 281.45 for quite a while and 257.700 also for that matter. Is that still
ZDC Salisbury?
I just figured action offshore was maybe slow these days.

Re 270.8: Well, they didn't really say to delete the freq - just the USE of the freq for 'RDR'...so it could still be in use for approach, for instance.

Re 134.1: I think they're totally out to lunch on that one. The freq is used all over the country for Command Post use and I had never known it as an Approach or Radar freq in this area. Waiting for corrections from the FAA.

Mark, I'm not sure there has been any change to 257.7 although I haven't heard any UHF traffic in the past week or so on any freq. - but that's my fault for not listening.

I just remembered that I had saved the list of freqs that "Jeff" down at Patuxent had given us way back when - a couple of years ago. Lo and behold...there's the 348.0 freq listed as "Radar" on the list. He was updating an older list and said these were the freqs he had found active since beginning his search on 1/1/07. There are probably 50 freqs on the list for Pax.
Edit: Hmmm...and there's 134.1 on his list noted as "APP AM"
