I have a questions concerning talkgroups on Indiana Safe-T. Where does the data for the display column in the RR database come from? I have found a handful of new talkgroups in the Fort Wayne area. Unitrunker gives me the Dec, Hex, and Mode, however I have no idea where the Display characters come from. Am I just missing something really obvious or is there more to it?

Thanks!!!!

The display column is suppose to reflect what the actual radio says. Typically, though, this info is not available so it is up to the Database Admin to determine the best display. In the case of SAFE-T, the display is how the State has the talkgroup assigned in their database and won't necessarily reflect what the actual radio display is.

In the new RR 3.0 release, conventional frequencies will also have a display column, making it even easier to direct import them from the database using software. Hope this helps :)

scanner_freak - thanks so much for clearing that up for me. I did tap my 796 and thought perhaps the display information would be in the control channel data stream. Now that I know it's assigned at RR, it'll be a little easier to submit new talkgroups. Between Unitrunker and the people here at RR, I may one day actually understand this trunking thing :)
