As of this writing, the Uniden TWiki has been down for nearly a week, with no signs of it returning. An email to JB has gone unanswered.

The TWiki has links for firmware updates, update software and drivers - you may need to get them from someone, or from the various reflectors (groups.io, Facebook) until this is resolved. The reflector's links are in our wiki

Both are kind of disturbing.
Hopefully JB is just on vacation or something. I think JB may have also mentioned someone else handles their TWiki. Maybe they are on vacation also.

Hopefully Uniden has not decided to go dark like so many other large sized companies do.

Maybe I'm a bit confused on what we're referring to, but the Twiki seems to be online? It's a touch slow but seems to be loading for me. I just download BC_VUP3 off it.

I'm confused about the TWiki issue like you, it also loads for me but slowly which is how it's loaded for me probably since day one!
I'm not certain what @ka3jjz is really talking about with the Uniden TWiki.

I can understand it - I've been working on some specific designs to suggest to Joe once he gets freed enough to rearrange that mess of a wiki, and I was on it a lot trying to find things (not as easy a task as it sounds). So it certainly could be looked on as an issue for a corporate wiki, which this is.

I have 2 designs in skeleton mode, and thinking about a third.

Just as few examples of what needs doing;
  • The firmware fixes for the SDS100 and 200, along with the fixes for the now EOL HP1 and 2, should be on the firmware listing but they're not. In fact both the HP1 and 2 are completely different directories making them that much harder to find.
  • The drivers for the HP and P2 series scanners (including the ones for USB-1 cable) should be in a central place to make them easy to find, but they're not.
  • The articles for the XT and P2 scanners (not to mention the one Joe wrote recently for the BC125) are not easy to find. It certainly isn't obvious that they are there. Without knowing where to search, you might assume they aren't there at all
  • Lastly, all the scanner features (i.e. Location Based Scanning, Fire Tone Out processing, etc.) haven't all been documented. At least not on the listing I've seen. It's possible they exist elsewhere.
Granted that these pages probably need to go through some sort of peer review process (I would expect it), but some of these pages have been out there for years.

'nuff said...Mike

Sorry for the delays. I've been very busy with an office move (still not moved yet - putting things into storage currently).

The TWIKI is back up now, but it may have been when the dB was down and the system needed cleaned out again (the IT guy's job).

The TWIKI will be getting a complete revamp soon. I'm researching if I can make it a shorter URL, but that means everything gets moved, and I really only want to create the pages once.

Thanks, and just reallllly busy.

In addition to other things, got the second COVID shot last Monday and feel sorta blah.

At least my arm is starting to feel less sore.

It might be the crappy weather adding to it, too.

I'm hoping to start moving into the new office at the end of the month.

Out of curiosity - any word on Firmware updates for the SDS series (SDS100)? Read Mike's post above thinking he meant a new firmware post needed to be made on the Wiki but software isn't seeing it. Assume now, that he wasn't referring to a new firmware (super disappointed face).

No new firmware recently. Mike is talking about the firmware changelog and other TWIKI info. The TWIKI needs a massive overhaul.

Folks, let's stay focused on sources for Uniden firmware updates and drivers. Philosophical discussions about Uniden's scanner development team should be posted in the Uniden Tavern.

Or PM I'm assuming would be OK?

And yes, the TWIKI needs a much greater update than I previously thought. That will happen.
