What is the easiest way to update my sites list in PPS? STARS in Virginia has added a bunch of new sites and I want to make sure I have all the latest available.
It's actually very easy to do in the PPS (depending how you have set up your radio.). In PPS, go to tab D2, select P25 Trunking Systems Setting, scroll down to STARS, tab over to the Site List column, click site:xxx. That brings up the list of all currently programmed sites for the system. Click the New button, and enter the Site Name (alias), RFSS ID and Site ID. The Site Alias is anything you want, but you will need to know the exact hex values for the RFSS ID and Site ID. Don't forget to add the relevant control channels to the adjacent control channels list. What is the easiest way to update my sites list in PPS? If you use wildcards, make sure the system has traffic on all sites in the system. We have a new zone in Maryland with 7 simulcast sites that are coming online but denying all traffic. If the radio picks one of those sites, the radio will go deaf.
I don't think I ever knew you could do a wildcard here. I always just grab the data from RR

I assume, given your screen name that you are talking about VIPER? What range do you have setup for the Full Spectrum Scan?I actually have our statewide system set up as a Full Spectrum Scan, using the FF wildcard for RFFS and Site ID, it saves a lot of space, no control channels, and only one site entry. Works great when I'm traveling through the state, automatically scans for control freqs when current one is lost. Then I have separate systems set up for each of the three local towers, since they all carry slightly different traffic.

That's great. I might try that with STARS and VSP in Virginia. Are you doing different zones/knob settings for NCSHP?Yes Viper, the FSS uses two ranges, from low to high freqs on the system, one for 700 the other for 800.

I assume when you use FSS, your Control Channel list can be empty?Yes, my Zone/knob set up includes one for local towers, one for other county towers nearby, and one for statewide travel, in each of the zones I split the knobs into categories (IE SHP, SW Events, Federal, Etc) but keep one knob as all call for statewide search.

This works great! BTW, I venture into NC occasionally. Is it possible to share your config for VIPER? When I am there I am usually in the Triangle.
Understood. Just thought I'd ask!No you have enough to build your own, each person likes it particular to them.
That's exactly what I tried, @RaleighGuy . One site, FF FF. Constant OOR while driving in range of six sites, one on a mountain. I must have something wrong. Considering 6.25 step; not sure if that'll help. Thanks for the reply. While we wait for @cpohlad to give the real answer, looking at the site in RR the range is 151.025 (low) to 161.950 (high) and I believe 12.5 step.
