33.8600 77.0 EMS dispatch EDT <possible Washington Co, MD>

and

33.7800 82.5 FD/EMS Dispatch - possible Allegany Co MD

I can confirm both of these, Allegany uses 82.5 and often switches over to the Washington County lowband freqs for mutual aid.
I can hear both of these dispatch frequencies on the regular when I'm in Fairfax County, VA. Even when the band is closed. However, when the band is open (and I'm hearing 33 MHz fire skip from throughout the northeast they and the 39 MHz MSP freqs come booming in. Their transmitters are located at quite the elevation.

Sad to hear that Washington County is in the process of upgrading to a UHF Project 25 system. Who knows if their lowband dispatch frequencies will remain active, but if they will, they're certainly a good band opening indicator.

Questions For KKN50

I can confirm 37.12 MHz Madison County Sheriff as it is a local for me. I enjoy monitoring the Missouri Highway Patrol Base Stations and Oklahoma Highway Patrol Base Stations (what is left yet from the move to 800 Mhz trunking systems) as locals too but I am too far away to hear the cars direct. I can hear Muskogee Troop C Highway Patrol on 44.70 MHz and Vinita Troop L on 45.22 MHz.
I saw your earlier posts on 34.20 MHz and 38.50 MHz for Fort Chaffee but it is too far away from me to be able to copy as a local and too close for skip so I never get to hear their range control operations. I am especially interested in VHF Low band MIL monitoring and I was wondering if you have ever heard them using 36.11 MHz, 36.53 MHz or 36.90 MHz? I use a Bearcat BCT15X here with a Comet GP-15 Tribander base antenna. The best VHF Low Band antenna I have ever used in the past has been the Channel Master Monitenna.
I also had a few questions on your monitoring station if I may? Thank you and I often check your awesome VHF Low band logs:

(1) Tell me more about your dipole antenna. Is it mounted vertically polarized or horizontally polarized?

(2) Are you scanning a preprogrammed bank(s) of frequencies or scanning the VHF low band in segments?

(3) Do you ever copy any Oklahoma Wildlife Game Wardens on 44.64 MHz, 44.84 MHz, 44.96 MHz or 45.04 MHz? I have never been able to hear any local traffic on these myself but have them programmed in my BCT15X.

I also have a BCT15X im using proscan so if you need a full lowband file to load into your scanner let me know. And i think KKN50 should start selling his low band antenna plans ,,,,lol

I don't recall ever hearing anything on 36.11 or 36.53. 36.90 is a local freq and busy with helo traffic - I have not logged much else on it.

My primary 40 mhz dipole is down from recent high winds. I am currently using a ten meter dipole up about 40 ft. It is horizontal. I need to the get the 40 mhz antenna back up soon because using the ten meter dipole for the scanner is preventing me from working ten meters.

Tell me more about your dipole antenna. Is it mounted vertically polarized or horizontally polarized?

Both, but most of the time I am scanning banks programmed with: (1) all FCC allocated frequencies from 29.7 - 50.0 MHz; (2) all frequencies in the military segments; and, (3) various frequencies (e.g. Mexican and South American) that I have found while searching.

Are you scanning a preprogrammed bank(s) of frequencies or scanning the VHF low band in segments?

I think having a decent antenna is the key. Also, my location on a hill in south Texas is great for receiving skip from most of the country and Mexico / Central America. It also helps to have a scanner running 24/7 connected to a laptop with auto-logging and recording software.

Of course, if it were practical I would love to have a 30-80 MHz Log Periodic! Maybe someday.
