In anticipation of the upcoming July 1, 2025, activation of TDMA (P25 Phase 2), VIPER has been diligently working to allow end-user and radio service shop programmers to start testing and verification. To that end, we have enabled TDMA on a select number of sites distributed across the state. The testing footprint is posted below.

Another good reason to monitor the statewide VIPER talkgroups, the State Event talk groups Tango 1, Tango 2, Tango 3 and Tango 4 have been set at the system level to ONLY support TDMA calls, and radios will only be able to affiliate with sites that support TDMA. These talk groups have been removed from the assignment rotation for state incidents by the 24-Hour Watch and are NOT monitored by the Watch nor any communications center. Users may utilize these talk groups to test communications but do be aware that you may hear others testing as well.

SHP air ops testing Phase 2 radios on TANGO1 this morning and sounded good.
Dang too bad I wasn't in the area. We packed up and took off around 930 and headed back home. I did run dsdplus for a few days on the viper system. Now back home. We saw a FL driver get those funny lights on i26 from SCHP cause the FL Driver was speeding and came close clipping a few cars/trucks on the road and of course they were from South FL area........

I was going to ask if the SW Event groups have already done phase 2 early. My PRO-2096 hasn't picked up any of the VIPER Event groups in over a week at least. Its receiving sheriff, ems etc transmissions on local county VIPER TGs fine, just none of the EVENT TGs. I am picking up the SW Event groups find on my 436 and 536 though so I know its not a lack of radio traffic. Thanks for posting the testing information

I wanted to start to configure SDR-Trunk to prepare for Viper Phase 2. I am in the Wilmington, NC area. I am not seeing any traffic on the frequencies that are posted in this thread. Has anyone seen a list of the planned control frequencies, or did I just pick a bad time to try and configure this and those will eventually be in use statewide?

With the exception of the info posted in this thread no other information or control channels have been made available or found. We are still two months out from the scheduled start of the switch over and I am hearing daily radio checks and check ins on the SW Event Tango TGs, today I heard SHP Troop D and Brunswick County.

Nothing will change at the system level except for the TG type and that can be changed with the click of a mouse button. If your receiver is capable of TDMA, it will work just the same as it always does. Same control channels, voice channels, talkgroups, etc.

Has anyone configured SDRTrunk for North Carolina Viper's upgrade to P25 Phase II that goes live on July 1st? I know there is supposedly testing going on, but I am unable to pick up any control channels.
If you have been successful, what do your settings look like?

Please re-read post #1749, there shouldn't be any changes, and if there is no one will be able to help until after the switch takes place.

As long as the end user has their radio flashed and programmed for TDMA, it does not matter whether the system is TDMA or not. The radio can automatically handle switching back and forth from FDMA to TDMA, even on the same system or talkgroud

They are inter-op with them now, with a set of SC SHP and Fire TGs shared on the Viper system, so don't see why not.

Were you ever able to get VIPER to work on SDRTrunk in the Wilmington, NC area? I'm in the Porter's Neck area, and I can get the NHC P25 system working (all that is not encrypted), but on all of the VIPER sites of which I am supposed to be in range, I get nothing when using the frequencies/control channels referenced here and on RadioReference.

I can assure you the information in the RR database is correct for Wilmington NC area Viper sites, I've recently used them. I would guess the issue is in your SDRTrunk programming rather than the Viper sites.

I'm not doubting the frequencies are correct...that's not what I was saying at all (BTW...thank you for all of your work and involvement on this). I was hoping kcdale99 had figured out how to get it working with SDRTrunk because I seem to be having similar issues and we're in similar areas of the state.
