• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I did not see VHF Marine in the list, but I have asked, and I have programmed them, without any issues.

Available Wideband Channels
Even if "Wideband Disable" is checked for a radio (at Radio Information > Options > Feature Disable), the following frequencies are available for that radio:

VHF Amateur Band -> 144-148MHz
UHF Amateur Band -> 420-450MHz
SMURS Blue Dot 154.57 MHz
SMURS Green Dot 154.6 MHz
462.750 MHz
462.775 MHz
462.800 MHz
462.825 MHz
462.850 MHz
462.875 MHz
462.900 MHz
462.925 MHz
465.000 MHz
462.5625 MHz
462.5875 MHz
462.6125 MHz
462.6375 MHz
462.6625 MHz
462.6875 MHz
462.7125 MHz
462.5500 MHz
462.5750 MHz
462.6000 MHz
462.6250 MHz
462.6500 MHz
462.6750 MHz
462.7000 MHz
462.7250 MHz
467.5500 MHz
467.5750 MHz
467.6000 MHz
467.6250 MHz
467.6500 MHz
467.6750 MHz
467.7000 MHz
467.7250 MHz
470-520 MHz

Note:
Any frequency is allowed to receive wideband as long as transmit is disabled, regardless of whether that frequency is wideband exempt.

the NPSPAC interops are speced at 20kHz bandwidth with 4kHz of deviation. I believe thats what @Project25_MASTR was referring to.

I have seen radios from other vendors that only offer 12.5 for this split, or at best 12.5 and 25.

EDIT: I am also very happy with the wideband allowed channels above. That is a VERY well thought out list of exceptions and really makes needing a wideband key unnecessary.

For whatever it's worth, the APX8000 has the same exact frequencies (as well as marine Part 80 and the NOAA channels) carved out to allow wideband 4 or 5 kHz TX deviation even with Q507 - 12.5 kHz FCC Mandate in the flash. It'll even let you program the paging channel 157.450 in 5 kHz. Same goes for the rest of the APX lineup for whichever band(s) the radios are capable of, including the APX7000, and has been that way since R10 in 2013. I'm not sure why everyone is so blown away by the "awesome engineering and well thought out" concept of something that has been around for a full decade. 🤦‍♂️

Let me know when an APX8000 (or any APX radio) can be ordered with both DMR tier 3 and P25 CAI. I'll be waiting.
Let me know when you can order a fully optioned APX8000 with all bands enabled, AES multi-key, P25 trunking and TDMA for under 6 grand.

The VP8000 does what an APX can't do and that is DMR and P25. I'd call that awesome engineering and well though out. MSI expects you to carry two radios like it's 1999.

I havent checked in awhile, but it seems the issue was 70cm.... wasnt 420-450 forced narrow because amateurs are secondary? Will it allow RX wideband on GMRS?

Not going to argue the DMR stuff but my last APX8000 was $6600 with all bands enabled, AES/ADP multikey, P25 TDMA...and yellow case. Id like to try a VP if I can ever get a quote from a vendor.

I was able to do both 420-450 and GMRS full wideband at will. Interesting since 420-430 is Part 90 here...
