• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

I'm launching into my first NAS setup with an XTS2500 I picked up for $40. So far as I can tell, everything works, and I was able to get the firmware updated to the latest available. I've reviewed the NAS setup guides on this forum, CS, and everything YouTube has to offer. I'm not really sure what step I'm missing at this point. Everything is setup as RX only, data features disabled, syskey added, conventional channels assigned, scan lists go to zone assignments, hopefully I explained that correctly).

I'm not a stanger to CPS, the last radios I programmed were some HT1250's for my department many years ago, obviously ASTRO25 is a "little bit" more involved, but I would like to learn more about it which is why I picked this radio up cheaply before going with an XTS5000.

Model No: H46UCH9PW7BN (formerly a W2BN) ** Stupid question, is this why there's no RX? The radio doesn't actually have the hardware, just the modified features? Referencing this post: XTS2500 upgrades
Firmware: R20.50.10
Flashcode (likely janky from eBay): 521018-80078C-1

Happy to provide any screenshots or the codeplug necessary for review.

Many other posts at CS (not sure if I'm allowed to link them)

As a former first responder, I understand how critical it is that the steps for NAS are properly executed, that is why I want to make sure I'm not missing something trivial. I've double, triple, and quadruple checked that this radio has no possibility of transmitting and that everything possible is RX only and no data features are enabled.

Edit: I can hear on my first channel, but none of the others when they are selected. I did confirm the HEX value is right from the RRDB

Gah, I figured it out and now I can't edit my first post. What a great learning experience this was. Mods feel free to close/delete if needed.
