Zello Legacy Desktop App

I'm looking to use the Zello desktop app to TX/RX a HT radio.

When I download the Zello desktop app, it defaults to ZelloWork, and asks me for a network name; I don't have one of those.
Zello's website says to download the Legacy App, but I can't find that.
I've tried searching about a dozen different ways and I've just kind of given up.

Any chance someone can point me in the right direction??
Do I sign up for a 14-day free trial of ZelloWork and download the legacy app from inside the ZelloWork app?
Or is there some other secret I'm missing?

Right; I've seen that page, but it's not that helpful.
"Download the legacy app from your management console"
What is the management console? The desktop app I downloaded? That's for Zello Work and requires a network name.

I tried logging into Account Sign In - Zello
But there's no "Home --> Service & Status Updates"

I also found this page that actually has a link called Release archives Zello Work
but when you click it, a popup says it's not authorized.

Hello there,
I'm having the same difficulty trying to source the Zello 'legacy app'.
I have access to a lower level on the mgt dashboard as an Incident Controller and ZW coord for my area.
I am trying to set up a ZW/VHF gateway to increase our radio coverage.
I would be grateful for any assistance you could offer.
Many thanks
John

nosoup4u,

Thank you very much for your help.

This will enable me to move this important project forward.

I would advise against using the no longer supported desktop version for anything important. I am expecting Zello to cut it off anytime they wish. Use it for fun, but don't expect it to work for too much longer. Or maybe we will get lucky and it will continue to work for many more years. My bet is that we are already on borrowed time, though. I say we because I am in the same boat as I have the legacy software running to provide Zello access into my ham radio system.

I had the same thought about the legacy desktop version. What do you think about the free PTT app, though?

It looks like the Android app supports VOX, so I was thinking about a setup with a Pryme gateway cable into an old Samsung galaxy.

Anything to avoid the paid ZelloWork app.

I won't connect anything to my repeater system with VOX. The reason I am still running the legacy desktop software is PTT control via CM108 chipset. I have no current plan B for when Zello drops access for legacy desktop users. I plan to cross that bridge when forced. :)

Fair. Are you worried that something could cause the VOX to stick open?

Exactly. Now, my controller should handle it via time out timer, but I like multiple points of control. I have seen single points fail before.

Make sure the handheld has VOX activated, and make sure it’s plugged into the headphone or audio out of your ZW station, and make sure the volume of the ZW station is high enough to trigger the VOX of the handheld.

Thank you,
I've checked all of those connections, and also the ZW settings in the legacy app.
Still cannot hear the ZW on the hand held.
Sorry to be a pain, new to this experiment, and just trying to make it work in both directions.....is there a ZW setting I'm missing for ZW Tx...?

It may be a ZW setting, but probably not.
Assume you’re running ZW through a laptop or desktop PC. Unplug any audio out or headphone plugs from the PC. Can you hear people talking on ZW through the PC speakers? If not, you need to go into the ZW audio settings and make sure the correct speakers are selected. Once you can hear ZW through the PC speakers, plug the handheld back into the PC (from the audio out, or headphone jack of the PC to the microphone input of the handheld). Then make sure VOX is enabled on the handheld.

Retevis RT3S on an analogue channel, through leads into laptop sockets, and a Baofeng UV5R as my stand alone handheld.
Using a mobile phone with ZW as an intermediate ZW Tx/Rx
