996xt

I am debating on which scanner to get and was hoping that someone had some advice for me. I want to get a digital scanner but should I get the 996xt or I see that Radio Shack has a pro 197 Scanner. Which one is better and are there any other Good base scanners out there? Thank you guys, Ken

Ok, I've programmed my 996xt off of the computer, but this weeks project is doing it from the keypad. IIRC, I have many systems, law enforcement, fire, etc. Labeled S0: 1 on the scanner for police, S0: 2 for fire. This scanner is a home unit. Scanner feed is online here, San Juan County, NM...

Wading through the horrible twiki documentation I can not find any reference to how to turn on CC Auto Store or designate which system should be used to store any hits. I sure hope that someone at Uniden has plans to write a real user manual for this scanner !! Neil Bell

I know how to do a full hard reset but I wonder if there is a soft reset that will not destroy existing programming. My 996XT locked up hard in Bandscope mode and I could not exit from it. Obviously I tried SCAN (which has always worked before) as well as various MENU options.... Neil Bell
