To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:
Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.
To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.
The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.
For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

I saw bumper mounts from Hustler and even an old-style chain mount in the first page of results. Use the words "chain mount" in your search and it will bring up the kind of mounts you need.

+1 on what EAFrizzle stated above. I also see some old style bumper mounts at times at Love's Truck Stops......which may be the Hustler style previously mentioned.
Then, you just have to watch out for overhead obstructions, my last 102" lost a bit when I hit some overarching tree limbs some years back. Was getting a little over zealous on some logging roads in a Chevy Suburban. Had metal bumpers and a 102" CB antenna dangling behind and above me.

awesome. I didn't mean to derail the thread but prior to my last divorce I had a pretty good collection of the Johnson CBs. Just had to know.

The 123A is a 24 channel CB not a 23 channel CB.
The bigger question is do bumpers that will support them exist (they are covered in plastic and designed to crush when hit)

Anyone wanting to bend their 102" like a bugzapper on NVIS has a proper bumper. Guaranteed. š

I was in a truck stop earlier this evening and was going to look for the old bumper chain mounts. But it appeared that the CB section that was there last year has been replaced by a pizza counter.
If you can't find one, it's an easy fabrication job for someone with some bar stock and an old buzz box welder. If you were local, I'd fab one up for you, just to see a 102" whip on an old Mustang like that. Bonus points if it has an 8 track player.

Yeah. Nothing like a classic car with a 102" whip wiping-out all the fluorescent bulbs in the drive through canopy! We even had one or two of them a summer with 72" whips on HP squads. I think we had a budget item for those reimbursements.

Huh, figures. Gotta be one somewhere or Ill figure something out. 8 track is an idea. It had a newer junk AM/FM and I was just going to replace it with the original AM, but I ended up doing a retro looking radio with blutooth. I'm thinking of doing my 8 channel Regency scanner along with the CB for a whole vintage setup..
This mount has been around a long time and I've used several thru out the years.

Well, I stopped at Love's and was pleasantly surprised to see in the trucker area that they actually had a CB section! They had a few mounts, not sure they'd work. I took some pics to show, but can't post them on here even at 20% compression. š
Had one of those on a 1965 Pontiac Bonneville "back in the day"

So I can do a spring and then antenna on top of that?
I always did but check your SWR regardless of spring or no spring, you may need to trim a little if you add a spring to a 102 stainless whip.
