• To anyone looking to acquire commercial radio programming software:

Please do not make requests for copies of radio programming software which is sold (or was sold) by the manufacturer for any monetary value. All requests will be deleted and a forum infraction issued. Making a request such as this is attempting to engage in software piracy and this forum cannot be involved or associated with this activity. The same goes for any private transaction via Private Message. Even if you attempt to engage in this activity in PM's we will still enforce the forum rules. Your PM's are not private and the administration has the right to read them if there's a hint to criminal activity.

If you are having trouble legally obtaining software please state so. We do not want any hurt feelings when your vague post is mistaken for a free request. It is YOUR responsibility to properly word your request.

To obtain Motorola software see the Sticky in the Motorola forum.

The various other vendors often permit their dealers to sell the software online (i.e., Kenwood). Please use Google or some other search engine to find a dealer that sells the software. Typically each series or individual radio requires its own software package. Often the Kenwood software is less than $100 so don't be a cheapskate; just purchase it.

For M/A Com/Harris/GE, etc: there are two software packages that program all current and past radios. One package is for conventional programming and the other for trunked programming. The trunked package is in upwards of $2,500. The conventional package is more reasonable though is still several hundred dollars. The benefit is you do not need multiple versions for each radio (unlike Motorola).

This is a large and very visible forum. We cannot jeopardize the ability to provide the RadioReference services by allowing this activity to occur. Please respect this.

Since 11 m is not a ham band, this should be under the CB forum. I gave up on 11 m noise years ago after it became a bottomless pit. There may be some sensible users still on 11 m but are few and far apart. Edited as I see it was moved to the CB forum.

the thread Making Contacts / On the Air should be renamed for ham radio's people making contacts on the air not making contacts on the air because that sounds like any radio contacts on the air should be allowed

thank you

But the Making Contacts/On the Air is in the AMATEUR RADIO thread. Along with the other Amateur related posts/threads. 11 m band hasn't been an amateur radio band for at least 60 years. Thus posts about contacts on 11 m belongs in the CB Radio Form-Discussions regarding Citizens Band Radio [CB]. As well if you haven't read or looked at the large number of threads in this section, you should as it includes a large number of posts on contacts on the 11 m band.

Well, it isn't up to me, as I am not an administrator. You could as an administrator to do it for you. But you have to remember that CB radio was intended for short range communications, no long range. Most long range [not all because one can do it with 4 watts] use illegal amplifiers. Thus CB was not initiated for DX. It is only done illegally. As I stated before, there are numerous threads already on the CB forum about contacts.

If you want a thread called Making Contacts/On the Air in the CB forum, then start one. Nobody is stopping you.

The Making Contacts/On the Air forum is a sub-forum in the Amateur Radio group of forums. CB posts clearly do not belong there.

Since we only have one CB forum, you'll have to settle for a thread.
