I missed this one. That is a huge DX on aero! The furthest I have gotten on aero is New York so yours is impressive IMO:)

Works well the other way too - I can often hear NY Volmet on 6604kHz in the late afternoon/early evening here(0400z) then he fades out after 0800z.

That's pretty cool, majoco. That was the first Volmet I ever received from the pacific region. Usually I pick them up from northern europe.

Hi Lino, yes - they all seem to peak in signal about the same time, I guess it's Grey Line propogation. 5505 is Shannon, Ireland and I can often hear (S1!) the RAF Northwood Volmet on 5450. Northwood also sends the MetFax for Afghanistan for the troops I guess.

Quite a selection of receivers you have there! Not counting the 'domestic' varieties I have restored, my usual listening is done on a JRC NRD 515, a WinRadio G303e, a Kenwood R2000 on an amplified whip, a Kenwood TS120v transceiver which has a hot receiver on Ham bands, and lastly a VR5000 too.

Just a 60ft longwire running N-S, an Hygain 18AVT/WB ham band vertical and a discone for the VR5000.

Cheers - Martin

Australian VOLMET Sydney on 11387 at 1330z.

Nice catch! I had New Zealand volmet this morning on 6679 khz at 1125 utc. Honululu Radio volmet immediately came on the air when New Zealand ended their transmission. I've also had Australia on 6676 khz early mornings here. I never thought to try the higher frequencies like 11387 - I'll give that one a try in the morning. Early morning is prime-time here for "down-under" DX.
