Anyone know why I am hearing police traffic on 154.295 DPL 047 in Stark County? It has started within the last month or so. This was previously Greentown and Uniontown FD.

Can you give us an idea of what kind of police traffic you are hearing? Unit numbers / references? Roads/intersections?

Perhaps some PD agency is using 159.24 with just the right DPL/PL needed to trigger the Uniontown FD repeater? 159.24 is Uniontown's input. All it would take is for some other agency on 159.24 with right transmit tone to transmit the Uniontown FD repeater.

It is either Uniontown, Greentown, or Hartville from the intersections mentioned but I am not familiar enough with Lake township to know exactly where each departments boundries are located. Dispatch is referring to the cars as 101, 102 etc.

Hmm thats interesting. I kind of dout its any Uniontown or Hartville police units becasue their unit numbers are "Uniform Tango (Number)" for Uniontown and "Hotel Victor (Number)" for Hartville.

I'm glad someone started this thread. I've been hearing it for a few days now also. I always assumed it was Uniontown. I did notice that they use the military phoenitc alphabet (alpha bravo etc).

The traffic is not always there. It almost seemed like it was being used as a failover for Stark800.

Just heard a traffic stop. The location of the stop was "behind the Hartville Market by the Hartville Flea Market". Does that help anyone ID this?

They, Lake Township, have a pending license, which is below, then the current active listing. If anything it sounds like operator error, wrong channel, or programming error.

Thanks for the clarification. The Google Map didn't help. It is hard to tell whose jurisdiction something is in from maps. It does appear to be in the township.

The whole situation is odd. I know I've heard both cars (unknown if more than one) and dispatch. I'm not sure who covers Lake Twp. I thought it was the SO. I'm too far from a Stark 800 tower to get a consistantly clear reception.

I just checked the Lake Township website. They indicate that police services are covered by both the SO and Uniontown PD (Lake Township, Stark County, Ohio). Yet the existing license you show above lists Lake Township PD. Does Lake have its own PD? Is it new?

This is all very confusing.

According to my son who's on the Uniontown FD, the Uniontown PD is being dispatched via CenComm on the FD frequency. This is causing a big inconvenience when they sleep as they not only hear Greentown FD, they also hear Uniontown PD. The rumor is that there are repair issue problems with the Uniontown PD dispatch equipment.

Do the FD not have pagers or two-way radios with paging mute.
What I've experienced here so far, is they "powers that be" tend to take the radio shop suggestions.

Heck it's conventional radio, work up something temporary. Or find a radio shop that can.

Here's some additional info that was passed on from a friend of mine...

UPD is on the UFD channel 154.295 DCS047. This channel is also the Greentown Fire Dept dispatch channel.

UPD used to be on the Stark 800 system, however due to budget concerns and the Stark Sheriff policy in this county that you can not be on the 800 system unless either the Sheriff or Canton City is your dispatch agency.
They also operate on 154.685 PL 114.8 for traffic to there police station. Usually this is encrypted so it is not very interesting.

UPD may become Lake PD soon. It was voted on but I do not have a timeline. The Stark SO currently patrols the southern part of Lake Twp but they have been hit by massive budget cuts and cannot provide the coverage.

I just read on the Lake Township trustee meeting minutes that they approved a contract with Nimishillen Twp for Police Dispatching services, and another thing in the minutes said they approved some money for purchase and programing of VHF radios. So I wonder if they will permently be on the Fire Depts. channel or if its just temperary until they get there new radios set up?

The Stark S.O. has discontinued patrols in most areas of the County, unless you are in a contracted area. In other areas of the County the Sheriff will ONLY respond if required by State law, domestics etc. otherwise they have a new program where you can report crimes by computer on-line.

Minimum staffing at the jail, and many minor offense prisoners have been released, and many are booked and released.

Now the policy of being on the 800 system if dispatched by the County or City is stupid IMHO.
But they, the SO and city, have been fighting against unified dispatch for the past year. Another stupid thing is the policy that we can and should make money by dispatching emergency services.

Any new updates on Uniontown & Hartville PD? My new PSR 500 is on it's way and was hoping that I will be able to hear them.
