The last few days there has been activity on 154.680 that does not seem to be NCHP
related. May be hunters running their dogs.
Any one else copy or have info?

NC DOC is licensed for 154.6725 MHz for inmate movement-related communications. Possibly some of the search dog handlers were involved in an exercise ... or actual search.

Did you log a PL tone ?

Another possibility is that you were hearing activity on the old sheriffs channel as an image. 455 kHz is one of the I.F. frequencies used in scanners, and 155.565 Mhz. minus 910 kHz (twice the I.F.) would put you in the ballpark of 154.680 MHz if the signal was strong enough.

Jeff, thankyou. I have one scanner dedicated to 155.565 all of the time = no activity at these times of what I was hearing on 154.680. I did hear normal Onslow County Sheriff on .565 during these comms.
Three scanners on .680 - Pro 2006, Pro 97 and Bearcat BC350A all received what was three different people talking of "....tracking frequencies(collars)..." and local roads with intersections.
Some scanners had both sides of conversation with copy from loud to weak.

154.680 is also part of the new state interoperability plan

The other frequencies in the plan are 154.265, 154.280, and 154.295

Hope this helps as well.

David

I'll listen today. I live in Hubert and for the last couple of years, I've heard hunters using all sorts of illegal frequencies. Usually all over the place from 25-30 MHz and VHF marine channels, but it wouldn't suprise me at all for them to be using a PS frequency.
