Surveillance on 165.2375 today near I-85 and Pelham Road in Greenville. Simplex only, not thru the repeater.

Yea, I knew what it was. It popped up on my Signal Stalker 2055 mobile with a Maxrad 1545 dual band 3db gain antenna. Most older Fed ch's are now used in the simplex mode. Those still using repeaters are encrypted. Thanks for reply, Larry

I could have sworn I've heard an ATF unit on 165.2375 PL 100.0 in the Columbia area. Apparently there is a repeater in the Columbia area, but it isn't used very often.

I've read that the ATF uses 165.2875 MHz (PL 100.0 Hz). Any chance it could have been that?

I monitored 165.2375 yesterday in the Pelham Rd area and heard no voice traiffic. I did hear what sounded like ANI (MDC1200).

That's OTAR (over-the-air rekey). It's changing the encryption key in the radios.

Yes it is an ATF freq, BUT, they rarely use any repeaters. Surveillance simplex is the common use for all Federal VHF. What I heard was surveillance.
