That is down in the RailRoad band [Not Federal] and your frequency looks off a little.

Exactly where are you hearing this? City/County

160.8150 Amtrak
160.8300 Multiple RR's

off-topic

im hearing it exactly on 160.825. im located on the brooklyn boarder line of queens.

i heard sirens and someone saying a firearm was recovered. i achally heard it when i was scanning the marine band. 160.825 is the input frequency for marine ch 64 on my scanner. im not sure if this is the U.S. coast guard?

Actually

160.8250 is the SHORE aka BASE frequency] for the International
VHF Marine [Non USA] Channel of 64.

In many foreign Countries the VHF Marine channels are Duplex [most Semi-Duplex] vs the standard Simplex that we use in the States.

In the USA that channel is not allowed and 160.8300 is used by the RailRoads and is likely what you are hearing as the channel is only a few khz away

As someone else has also pointed out 160.8300 is the NJ Transit Police

cool, I'll program 160.830 in my scanner and see how that freq comes in. im surpised that nj transit police is coming in really good. nyc transit police isn't coming in as good as nj transit police.

must be the repeaters.

anybody hear anything on this channel lately? I didnt hear anything but maybe someone else has?? i know there was lots of federal activity around with new years and all. i saw that fbi channels were busy im sure they were with the terrorism threat and all. im not sure that dhs would be out in times square anyway, cause the fbi handles the terrorism stuff.
