Finally found a way to mount two Kenwood control heads I this thing....

Upper control head - TK-730 45w VHF paired with a TK-630H-1 low band @ 120w for 10 meter...

Lower control head - TK-830 35w UHF paired with a TK-630H-3 low band @ 120w for 6 meter...

Antennas -

Larsen 34mhz coil with 64" black whip. 1:1 from 29.3 to 30mhz for 10m FM

Larsen 150 NMO... 5/8 wave on 2m, and 1/4 wave on 6m. Using a Diamond 2/6m duplexer.

And for UHF 440/GMRS, a simple 6" 1/4 wave Laird whip.

More photos to come.

Nice job.

How'd you go about mounting the radios?

EDIT: Or should I say, control heads. But now that I mention it, where did you mount the guts?

Looks alright, are you using mag-mounts or installed mounts?

Scott, lookin good as always brother !! I love the dual deck setup's that you can do with the Kenwood's. To this day I still regret getting rid of my 790/890 dual setup.

The radio decks are mounted under the passenger seat, and under the driver side rear seat. Also, I would never use mag mounts as you can see in the picture. Also a wee bit of rust that I need to deal with.

Hopefully those aren't too hard to take apart, or you have a big garage to park it in. Long antennas on the roof of a vehicle are a royal pain otherwise.

I would love some more info on your install. I'm about ready to do my first mobile install in my 98 Grand Cherokee. How did you run the power from engine compartment to the interior? How did you work with the liner? It doesn't seem to come out very well.
