I need some insight in regards to antennas. I would like a window mount antenna (similar to the ones for cell phones) that receives 2.4 GHz video signals. I have had absolutely no success finding one. I was wondering if anyone has one or knows where I can find one or if anyone knows how to tune a currently offered antenna to the 2.4 range. Any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

A 2.4 GHz antenna would be 1.23", but you'd get no gain out of that so your range would be severly limited.

Do a Google search on WLAN antennas or WiFi antennas. You can make an antenna with 18db gain pretty easily.

Would this work?

In order to remove any doubt that I am a complete idiot, is the following possible. Taking a standard "cell phone" window mount antenna and replacing the whip with a Wifi Antenna. Will this work or are there internal componets in the "box" that are exclusive to the 800mhz cell phone bands?

If you can build a dipole for that freq. You can build yourself a a corner reflector or even a 3-d Corner reflector. At 2.4 gig it will be reasonably small. Here is a great site for thaose style antennas.

Be sure to follow the link at the bottom of the pages for more info. They are easily overlooked for some reason..
