The OPEK is around $100.00, the Diamond 510 around $200.00 and the 2X4 mobile is $60.00 at most ham stores. Check around, some vary some as to price.

The UVS-200 and UVS-300 sold under the names of Jetstream, Workman, and Opek, are all made in the same factory in China, just sold here under different names. I've had both the Workman UVS-300, and the Opek UVS-300 and they are identical in construction. Both worked very well however you will need to water proof them as they tend to take on water at the joints. I used silicone rubber on all the joints, and then taped them very well at least 3 inches on either side of the joints and none of mine ever had water in them. Also a good coating of a UV resistant clear coating on the outside will that antenna last a good 10 years in the air without maintenance. Fiberglass breaks down and cracks over time when it's untreated. The UVS-300 is also 16 feet 9 1/2 inches long from base to the tip.

Hi all,

I just wanted to report back, as I completed my UHF/VHF antenna project today!

I opted for the Comet GP-1 mounted on my antenna mast at about 20 - 25 feet above the ground, with 100 feet of LMR-400. I ended up taking down the scantenna, as it wasn't pulling in anything I wanted to listen to that I couldn't also get on my homebrew attic VHF/UHF flower pot antenna.

I haven't had the opportunity to transmit other than a local repeater, but the RX on this setup is awesome! When I am listening on the aircraft frequencies, I can get both sides of the conversation now. Before, I was only able to get the planes. Also pulling in semi-local repeaters a lot better now. Hopefully, I'll be able to contact them as well.

Just wanted to say thanks again for all the suggestions and advice. 73!
