For a bit of irony, I used to work for the company that supplied the body side moldings, rear license plate frame and lower hatch handle to General Motors; I liked them at the time, but couldn't afford to buy one new. Paid off my 2003 Chevy S-10, had an issue with the drivers side window on that, and bought the 2004 Trailblazer to have something to drive to work. Both will have more professional looking radio installations, but the S-10 has "cosmetic issues" that need dealt with first. Questions on the Trailblazer installation will be sent shortly.

Looking forward to seeing your install too. BTW GMTNation.com is a great resource site for the GMT360 platform.

Not trying to sound smart, you have done a great job so far, but in regards to the power, why not use a rig runmer with powerpoles? One big line coming in from battrry to the rig runner, then the cables from each radio have power poles on them that connect to the rig runner and it distributes fused power to the radios. Why the solenoid and fuse taps? Again, great job so far, im just curious.

Not at all, no worries! Really the main reason is lack of supplies. Figured I'd go ahead and use what I already had vs purchasing new equipment. The fuse blocks I used aren't ideally what I'd like but they do the trick. Ideally I'd be driving a TrailBlazer SS ;)

Here's just a quick update. The front most antenna can double as scanner, here's my concept using the overhead console. Pictured is my Pro-106 but my HT can also be used here with a battery eliminator essentially making it a low power mobile.

As for now, kind of in a holding pattern until a bit more wiring supplies shows up then I can hardwire everything on the windshield.

Interesting location; I can stick my IC-91A in the sunglasses holder sideways, and hook a speaker mic to it. After I figure out how I'm permanently mounting a compatible antenna (the HT in question has an SMA connector), I will figure out how I will route the coax for it. The only bad thing about it is that on my 2004 LT, I can't close the holder with the HT inside. I guess I can just find another way to mount it that is a little easier to work with.

Is that an overhead console for the rear seats? mine only has the front one (04 LT SWB).

guiltyimnot, Have you checked eBay? I'm not sure what part of the lid you broke, but the lids themselves often go for $50-80 depending on the condition.

I broke the part that actually secured the back of the lid to the main body of the console. I keep checking ebay but the lids themselves have been listed for around 100. 200 plus for a new console. I figure for that money I might as well just start doing what I really want. Even if I have to to it piece by piece.

Yea the TB's are kind of restricted, there wasn't any real way to organize my radios without the console otherwise everything looks cluttered.

It's actually for the front, my TB has the DVD player (rarely used) so it kind of has 3 consoles up top.

Any local salvage yards to check? May be worth a shot as well.

I don't have that one; mine has the sunroof option (as well as the roof rack). Those two factors tend to play havoc with installing antennas in the roof. I did come up with a possible option though.

I just checked eBay and the whole lids are going for more than $200, I don't recall them being that expensive. I'm almost tempted to start going to junkyards to find one so I don't have to pay that much, maybe the parts are getting scarce.

Interesting. I've never been inside a TB other than mine so I haven't seen other configurations. I know my brother's Yukon has a pretty big console between the front and rear seats for the DVD and the DVD screen, but never seen a TB.

Do you ever have any issues with radios overheating in a console? I'd like to put my Kenwood TM281 and Alinco DR-435 in a console together but I'm concerned about the heat.

I know this won't specifically apply to your radios, but that overhead console can get quite hot, at least in Arizona.

It's a generic eBay DVR.

Dual Camera Vehicle Road Recorder W/GPS Logger+Sensor Car LCD Screen Video DVR | eBay

Works very well. Has it's own built in software for viewing the data.

Not thus far. I don't TX for extended periods of time but air seems to flow ok. I had toyed with the idea of adding an 80MM or 120MM 12volt fan just to exchange air but I don't think it'll be necessary.

The radios don't stay inside of it, they simply hang off. It's gotten so hot lately my GPS falls off my windshield so trust me, I understand the heat :p
