I though would post up my simple, yet effective scanner install in my newly acquired Charger. The scanner is a PRO-197 mounted on a custom bracket that goes underneath the center console and up the other side to hold it firmly into place without drilling any holes to the interior. The bracket was custom made by a friend who also painted it black to match the interior. Unfortunately, a mobile scanner doesn't get a lot mounting options with a factory console. But it works for me and easy to reach.

The antenna is an EM-MX0746 quarterwave that seems to get overall good reception in my area. The mount is by TRAM.

Nice setup!

My ICOM 2100H is in the exact same spot as your scanner in my '14 Charger (really the only good spot for a radio in that car).

I have several EM Wave brand antennas. You have the basic quarter wave which has an easy whip to unscrew to protect it from the car wash. I have the gain version(s) of EM Wave antennas. Extremely high-quaiity with great warranty!

Pretty sure he doesn't need to do anything with that one in the car wash ;). Also, I wouldn't recommend unscrewing it for the car wash, it'll corrode.

This model of EM Wave antenna is designed to remove the whip. The mount stays intact. There's a nice threaded holder that separates from the mount. I had several of them, and NEVER had a rust issue. Matter of fact, if you leave that whip on the car and go through the wash and it get hit by the brushes, it will bend.

I have five of them, I know all about the EM Waves. I had one of them corrode where it screws on. I've left the VHF ones on the car wash and they don't bend...your mileage will vary.

Thanks for comments, everyone. I appreciate it :)

As far as the antenna, I also use a Larsen phantom antenna that seems to work better with the scanner. And it's perfect going in the carwash ;)

I've been thinking about trying to become a dealer for EM Wave. Don't seem them much around here. I'm a real big Larsen fan and with Tessco and Hutton being an hour away they are really easy to purchase in bulk. But I so love black…

Nice to see an install on a Charger. I have a 2012 and have a 197 in the center console. Might try something like this.

I thought about installing it in the console, however the 197 is pretty bulky and I didn't want to drill holes to run the wire and cable out.

Yeah I did 1 hole in the bottom of the console, I was nervous I was going to hit the HVAC going to the back of the car.
Now I just need to figure out what I'm going to do about an antenna. I really don't want to drill a hole into this car, but just putting the antenna in the truck doesn't work very good.
