Depending on your location. I forgot where you listen. It will not harm anything at all if you program a few extra nearby sites to expand your listening enjoyment. I live in SW St Louis city and can hear only three MOSWIN sites due to my low elevation. The city's simulcast, Weldon Spring and Imperial. But because of how trunked systems work I can hear troopers talk in almost every county south of the city and a bit less up north.

Amazing really because when I am in Laclede Co scanning on a good day I can monitor almost 14 sites in surrounding counties.

Good luck.
are you using an SDS100? Weldon Springs from south city is pretty good.

I can receive Weldon Spring on my SDS100 and my 396xt and 325p2. Overall i get better reception on the 396xt. That has been my go to scanner for years.

Due to my low elevation spot in the city I don't get a peep from any MOSWIN site outside of the three I get. There are three counties in Illinois just over the river from St Louis about 10 miles or so as the crow flies from me but with a Yagi I can only get minimal, off and on, reception of two of those trunked systems. Always frustrating.

I can't comment to Weldon Springs but not log ago I was at my daughters right near the airport and was able to get the Madison County simulcast on my G5 "IF" I watched where I set the thing. I was kind of surprised about that one. May have just been a good day.

I'm west of Forest Park and I get Monroe County well and no St Clair County with a G4

yes 4 bars on my G4 but St Clair 3/59 0-1 bar
Ya they show that Columbia site on the map going further north than the St. Clair simulcast, that's a little odd to me but even the map agrees with your results.

Neither the Versailles nor Lathrop new sites that @nd5y saw (CAPRAD?) fit the state 700 MHz templates a-l.
Wonder if the templates are ONLY for the state-licensed sites WPTZ785.
Which makes me wonder if the local city/county is paying for these? (like Neosho 1-63 did with its additional 5 freqs a while back).
Worth watching for to get their site #, NAC and on-air date!

I don't have the template. Is there a link to it?

I'm not sure about this but I think for some reason if they use general use frequencies (see 700 MHz Public Safety Band Plan - The RadioReference Wiki) they have to license each site even though the state license covers the whole band.

According to one of the old maps on the state web site there was supposed to be a 700 MHz site at Gravois Mills which is near Versailles. Nobody ever reported it on the air so maybe it was never built.

Seeing an older CAPRAD reference to a 700MHz site at Montserrat - on US 50 between Knob Noster and Warrensburg.
Can anyone confirm that?
Likely freqs:
770.00625
770.30625
770.78125
771.23125
771.50625
Thanks
