My cat broke the original off and not its just not right .

if I am goig to buy antenna may as well get a better 1 then original.
It did ok but know i can do better.
Space is limited in apartment is real small. but wire on wall around ceiling can be done.
just trying to find 1 made or directions on how to make a good wire antenna for 800mhz mainly and would like to cover all bands but min is the 800 for fire and police for wife. she has to keep up with the gosip or she drive me nuts. LOL

Go to www.strongsignals.net, go the antenna section, then look for the reviews on the rubber duckies and base antennas. There are many to choose from. Personaly I would get a mag mount antenna and a cookie sheet, then find the highest place in the room by a window and stick it there. You can also mount a metal piece to the cieling and hang the antenna upside down. Just keep the angle of the antenna vertical, it doesn't matter if it is upside down. If you go horizonal your will lose 3db or more on recieve and that is a lot.

I have a Workman KS-3 tri band HI UHF 800 that I use in my window mounted on a piece of metal I also have a Workman KS-1 dual band on my other scanner mounted on the same piece of metal They work for me better than any rubber duckie ( tried most of them). You can get them from Ham Stop on e-bay I think they also have been noted here on RR

I use a magmount in my bedroom window hooked up to a Uniden BC9000. Metal frame under the paint. Excellent vhf-uhf reception.

I have not hooked it up to my Pro95, so I'm not sure about 800mhz. Maybe I'll do that this week!!
